So I met this guy at a coffee shop and we hit it off nicely, he always tries to hang out and I make time for it even though I'm swamped with everything right now. Last night he wanted to come over to watch a movie. As soon as he entered the house, he said, "I have to warn you, my feet is gonna smell". I have always been sensitive to smell and am a neat/clean freak, and have mild OCD with cleanliness as well. The whole time, instead of having a good time and enjoying the attention he was giving me, I kept thinking about how terrible his feet smelled. I asked him if he didn't wear socks, and he said he doesn't own a pair, and they make him uncomfortable. I told a friend of mine about this whole thing, and she said that there are lots of guys who don't wear socks and I was just being a prude. What do you think I should do? I almost don't feel like pursuing it anymore :-(.
 
You are complaining about a guy not wearing socks?

And here some of us can't even get our hands on a guy to complain about. haha.

How about joking around one day and telling him you two should go shopping and get him loads of socks. Get him ones that he thinks are comfortable.. and tell him to wear them. LOL.
 
I had a friend years ago who went around without socks. One day we started to get naked and do some foreplay... I could not continue because his feet smelled horribly and it affected how I perceived him... from cute to a turn-off.

Even wearing the same used socks several times between washing do smell.

To avoid stinky feet and socks, never wear leather shoes without socks, because the odors will stay in the leather forever. Wear clean socks always.

Also avoid shoes made with synthetic materials, because feet cannot breath and then they sweat inside, developing pugent smelling bacteria. Spend a little extra money on good quality leather shoes.
 
I hate socks too, i usually just wear flip flops, but i have to wear socks to work, ugh

haha, I know, I'm not actively trying to be petty, but it is such a major turnoff. Maybe I'll mention something about it next time this happens.
 
maybe just make a little joke about how his feet smell, I mean if he already knows they smell, he gave u a warning before coming over, just tell him hey, ugh yeah, ur feet stink, can u just wash em before coming over, haha i have OCD tendencies too, high 5!!!! its funny, my feet never smell, I don't wear socks around the house, I don't walk barefoot tho on the bare floor, I always have to wear slippers, but when I wear shoes I always wear socks, and another funny thing I have two pairs of shoes that I run in, the same 2pair I've been running in for the last 3 or 4 years, don't smell at all, and I run 12-18 miles a week, so idk I guess some people just don't have stinky feet haha lucky me.......
 
Black low cut dress socks aren't bulgey and disturbing. sometimes you wouldn't even notice it when you're wearing one. If all else fails, suggest to use foot deodorant. Dr.Scholl's got varieties.
 
There are some people who find that their feet get too warm when they wear socks. And there are some shoes like weejuns and topsiders that are designed to be worn without socks.

The human body smells. It's a fact of life.

If this guy is coming over to your house and he knows that his feet smell, then tell him go wash his feet.
 
Instead of noting the obvious to him about his foot odor, why not give him a foot bath before you guys do anything? You can use a lavender oil or a peppermint oil in the warm water, which can be both soothing and erotic. If you can't handle it, then tell him and stop wasting his time if he already likes you.
 
even if u know your feet stink..... you would make the effort to ensure that u didnt smell.. especially when its someone u wanna be around/ flirt with or someone u wanna shag LOL....

I know, thats what I thought as well, why wouldn't you do anything about it, instead of just warning me. But hey, thanks everyone for your advice. I'll see what I can do.

I would tell him to wash his own stinkin' feet. There are so many different options to prevent body/foot odor. If he doesn't take the time to care about such things, buh-bye.

I don't think you're being a prude, especially since he knows how stinky his feet are but doesn't do anything about it. If he didn't know, it'd be different.

Next time he comes over, place air freshener plug ins all around the house. Maybe he'll get the idea that you want him to do something about his stinky feet without you having to say anything to him.
 
dude, tell him his feet smell and he needs to wear socks. and if he makes a joke about it, say youre serious and its a tun off. he will put on socks.
 
Yeah, unless he is some sort of man-child, he should not have to be coddled about this. Tell him to clean himself up.
 
Wow, that's just as bad as guys who come over smelling like stale beer and cigs.

Tell him to CLEAN IT UP!

I think that deciding to do otherwise is just a sign of disrespect, if anything. If the guy cares about you enough, he'll make an effort to not offend you with his smelly feet (eww, why would you even MENTION it to someone you're trying to seduce...).
 
OP, you're hardly being a prude.

His feet should smell no worse than any other body part when he's vsiting anothers home.

His manners are seriously lacking and it wouldn't hurt for someone to let him know.
 
I would get over it. If you like the guy, that's an easy compromise to do.
