You are right , this is not directly from the project, it is from the general extreme christian idea that pain in pregnancy is a fair price that women pay in exchange for the joy of receiving the gift of a child. It really is one of the stupidest things I have ever read...reads like it was dictated by RFKjr...with weak citations of clinical studies. The FDA has always been suspect...but now I think that it will likely squander any intellectual authority and credibility it has over the next few years.

This is also going to cause a lot of unnecessary chronic illness and deaths. It is not only stupid they are doing this, it is downright evil. People will die because of this.

If you would like a good explanation of the need for newborn vaccination for Hepatitis B and Hep B in general, here is a good link from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

I am particularly interested in Hep B because I was part of the original Hepatitis B vaccine trials in the gay community from 1978-1981. I received the vaccine, not the placebo, during the study. And NO, I did not get AIDS from the Hep B vaccine, like some people try to claim. I am completely healthy and HIV negative today.

This reminds me of watching a 60 Minutes episode a couple of decades back, in which everybody was getting bent out of shape because WOMEN were using medical technology to give birth after menopause. I remember thinking "why is no one concerned about MEN who have children at an advanced age, in the 60s or 70s, either naturally, or with assistance from a fertility clinic?" Statistically they will either die or at least be physically and mentally incompetent before that child reaches adulthood. Why is there no concern about the inevitable disruption in the child's life?

Because women are still considered the more essential parent.

Fertility discussions always focus on the woman, carrying on the Henry VIII tradition of making the woman responsible for everything that an go wrong in child-bearing and child-rearing.

Incidentally, the fertility labs "clean up" men's sperm in preparation for insemination to try to get rid of the weak, defective and problematic sperm.
