Two days later, it's 22 children and 2 adults with measles....Texas is having a measles outbreak. In some counties in Texas, 1 in 5 schoolchildren are not vaccinated for measles. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases- 1 person with measles typically creates 12-18 cases of measles in an unvaccinated population.
A couple of weeks ago, 2 children were diagnosed with measles. Then last week, it was 6 children. This weekend, the count was up to 14 with another 6 possible cases in close contacts.
And he wants you to forget that his lies and incompetence resulted in over a million deaths in the US. He cares more about billionaires and the stock market than he does the American people.Oh I get it. He banned media from discussig public health crises because 4 years of "I ain't not finna take me no vax" is causing outbreaks all over Texabamassippi.
A scientific report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published Thursday shows some veterinarians who provide care for cattle were unknowingly infected with the H5N1 avian influenza virus last year.
The report is the latest evidence that the outbreak in dairy herds is spreading undetected in cows, and the spillover into people at highest risk of exposure is going unnoticed.
Seema Lakdawala, a virologist at Emory University who studies transmission of influenza virus, said it is clear from the report and earlier research that “there are H5N1 cases we are missing.”
The report is one of three about bird flu that were scheduled to be published three weeks ago in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). But the scientific publication was abruptly suspended when the Trump administration instructed federal health agencies to pause all external communications on Jan. 21.
A slimmed-down MMWR resumed publication last week but included none of the bird flu reports. Public health experts have criticized the unprecedented break in publication and the holdup of information about bird flu.
Oh, and 9 of them had to be hospitalized. All 24 were unvaccinated. Two days later, it's 22 children and 2 adults with measles.
Today, 48 total cases. 13 hospitalized.Oh, and 9 of them had to be hospitalized. All 24 were unvaccinated.
And for all the people who think that measles is just one of those fun rite of passage childhood diseases....and that herd immunity is the goal.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says it is trying to reverse the firing of staffers who worked on the government's response to bird flu, amidst growing concerns about its spread.
Tens of thousands of workers across the federal government have been told they are losing their jobs, and more layoffs and firings are in the works. The USDA is among multiple health agencies that have faced mass firings.
On Friday, the USDA publicly touted what it called "the first tranche in a series of bold reforms," including "an aggressive plan to optimize its workforce by eliminating positions that are no longer necessary," in line with the efforts of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
After delay, CDC releases data signaling bird flu spread undetected in cows and people
Within days, however, the agency sought to reverse some of those firings — particularly those related to its handling of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
The nation’s top public health agency is losing most of the scientists in a prestigious, but lesser-known, laboratory program that has become a mainstay of outbreak responses.
The fellowship program was hit hard during coming to many federal departments, according to five Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials who spoke only on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the cuts.
The program had been created about 10 years ago to help the CDC remedy embarrassing lab-safety failures. The cuts may not have an immediate impact, but they likely will haunt the nation in the months to come, said Stephan Monroe, a former CDC official who oversaw the reform of the agency’s lab services.
“The key thing about lab testing is it’s the smoke alarm,” said Monroe, now retired. “If you can identify those first cases really early, it allows you to mobilize a big response. ... If they don’t know what it is that’s going on, it could be a lot of transmission started before response starts.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has suffered significant losses in its Laboratory Leadership Service (LLS) program due to federal layoffs, according to the Associated Press. The LLS program, designed to recruit and train lab scientists, was created about a decade ago after the agency experienced embarrassing lab-safety failures.
At least 16 of the program’s 24 fellows were terminated, according to a scientist who was fired.
The cuts were part of broader federal job reductions affecting multiple agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The CDC originally expected to lose nearly 1,300 probationary employees but ultimately laid off about 700 staff members.
Amid layoffs at HHS, experts warn about impact on public health
The mass firings at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that began over the weekend continue, though it's not yet clear how many employees have been dismissed as part of the Trump administration's efforts to cut the federal workforce, or how many more will be losing their jobs in the coming days.
The dismissals, which began late last week and targeted probationary employees, have hit large swaths of health professionals across the 13 divisions that operate under HHS. The New York Times reports that the toll includes 1,200 employees dismissed from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), while National Public Radio reports that 750 employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) received termination letters over the weekends. Probationary employees include recent hires or longer-serving staff who recently began new positions...
Dismissals could top 5,000
The AP and other outlets reported last week that as many as 5,200 probationary employees across HHS could be dismissed, based on audio from a meeting of NIH officials. CDC leadership had told staff that an estimated 1,300 employees—roughly 10% of the agency's workforce—would be losing their jobs.
To earn the vote he needed to become the nation’s top health official, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made a special promise to a U.S. senator: He would not change the nation’s current vaccination schedule.
But on Tuesday, speaking for the first time to thousands of U.S. Health and Human Services agency employees, he vowed to investigate the childhood vaccine schedule that prevents measles, polio and other dangerous diseases.
“Nothing is going to be off limits,” Kennedy said, adding that pesticides, food additives, microplastics, antidepressants and the electromagnetic waves emitted by cellphones and microwaves also would be studied...
That directive said the commission will be made up of cabinet members and other officials from the administration and will develop a strategy around children’s health within the next six months. Kennedy said it will investigate issues, including childhood vaccinations, that “were formally taboo or insufficiently scrutinized.”
Oh, and Louisiana decided that they don't need to "promote" childhood vaccines... because "personal autonomy". Ralph Abraham, Louisiana's Surgeon General, who is 70 years old, is a veterinarian by background, although he has a medical degree, too. Dr Abraham, a Trump supporter, previously served in the US House for 6 years. In a bit of irony, Abraham vehemently opposed COVID-19 restrictions and the requirements around the COVID vaccines and when he retired from Congress in 2020, his hand-picked successor was Luke Letlow who was Abraham's Chief of Staff. Mr Letlow died from complications of COVID-19 in Dec, 2020 before he could be sworn into Congress. Now up to 58 cases in Texas. 8 cases in New Mexico. 13 were hospitalized. It has spread to neighboring counties. There's also an outbreak in Mexico.
Almost every case is in an unvaccinated person. 20% of children starting school in these Texas counties were never vaccinated for measles, mumps or rubella.
And LDH has banned vaccine events and ordered staff not to promote vaccination, New Orleans Public Radio (NOPR) reported today, citing an internal memo to staff yesterday, the same day as the confirmation of vaccine critic Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, as secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services. ...
"Government should admit the limitations of its role in people’s lives and pull back its tentacles from the practice of medicine," Ralph Abraham, DVM, MD, and Wyche Coleman III, MD, said in yesterday's release. Restoring public trust, they said, "requires returning medical decisions to the doctor-patient relationship, where informed, personalized care is guided by compassion and expertise rather than blanket government mandates."
Abraham is a veterinarian, physician, and was a Republican US representative for Louisiana's fifth congressional district from 2015 to 2021. He made a failed bid for governor in 2019. Coleman is an ophthalmologist who practices in Shreveport.

The majority of cases -upwards of 80% have been in unvaccinated children, 16 of whom required hospitalization. There have also been reports of a few cases in people who said they had been vaccinated.
The outbreak has also crossed the border to Mexico.

Measles Outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico Sicken Nearly 100 People
Texas reported 90 cases this week, while New Mexico reported nine. A majority of the cases have been in a Texas county where vaccination rates have lagged behind the rest of the state.www.nytimes.com
Yeah, those are the same "natural immunity" types who were out and about spreading disinformation during COVID (assuming that they weren't Russian trolls).I've read a few Facebook posts from right-wingers referring to measles as "freedom freckles". I just want to cry. This is pure evil.
They turn everything upside down: "Disease is freedom, health is tyranny".
