Healthcare going forward

Well that should make Benvolio lose his shit.

If a little govnment is good total governmental control must be great, huh? Remember we had tuberculosis almost eliminated in the US. The resurgence is the result of our flood of third world immigrants.

@ Benvolio

Bullshit.

Preliminary TB statistics for the United States for 2015

The preliminary TB statistics for the United States for 2015 show a total of 9,563 TB cases reported in humans, compared with a total of 9,421 for 2014. Among the 9,563 TB cases reported, 3,201 (33.5%) occurred among U.S. born persons, corresponding to an annual TB incidence of 1.2 per 100,000 persons. The 6,335 TB cases among foreign born persons in the United States (66.2% of the total U.S. cases) corresponded to an annual incidence of 15.1 per 100,000 persons. Overall national TB incidence remained approximately 3.0 cases per 100,000 persons during 2013 – 2015.

After 2 decades of declining incidence, progress towards TB elimination in the United States appears to have stalled.

The US did not almost 'eradicate' TB.

And just wait to see the rise if Obamacare is gutted.

In the legislation, it's referred to as "Minimum Essential Coverage" and "10 Essential Health Benefits".
And they wanted to remove those entirely from what insurance is required to cover, right? That's how I understood it?

If all those are removed, then WHAT IN THE FUCK would the Republican plan for INSURANCE COVER...IF ANYTHING????

Those 10 requirements are not health insurance they are a way of life; a retirement plan; a new (socialist) economic system. The premiums for all that would be astronomical and the taxes confiscatory. How would we keep the invaders our if we offer all that to them as a reward for sneaking in?
In particular, mental health is a bottomless pitt. Therapy is enormously expensive, subjective in diagnosis, treatment and cure, and can go on for decades.

Please stop with this blatant derailing tactic. It's not about an 'invasion'. It's about keeping American citizens ALIVE.

I guess he's happy if Americans pay tons of money to the insurance companies.

Paying them tribute. Simply paying them for their corporate rights to exist.

And covering NOTHING.

You run up a $74,000 bill for a heart bypass or something. Under that plan, insurance might cover $212 and you're stuck for the rest. Oh, the amount they cover is coming from the good-heartedness of the mighty, benevolent corporation of course.

Why is benvolio so opposed to one penny of government "socialism" or largesse of any kind, though [STRIKE]he's entirely fine with[/STRIKE] he wants the insurance companies demanding often more than $10,000 a year from one person in return for covering nothing? I guess the government ripoffs are too petty.

That's hogwash. Insurance companies pay out most of their premiums. [Text: Removed]

I was shocked when i was told just how many people go bankrupt and lose everything because they need medical intervention to alleviate their suffering, or to prevent death.

How can one claim to live in a first world country, yet deny medical treatment to someone purely because they don't have the dime to pay for it, truly is beyond me.

Ben, just what do you not understand about universal healthcare?

I would imagine that you would be one of the first to start campaigning if the shoe was on the other foot, and you could not get any treatment for an illness or ongoing treatment for a pre-existing one just because you could not afford the ridiculous prices one has to pay.

What a choice, lose your life, or lose your home to pay for your life. Make America great again! More like make America think again.

America's greatness has been in avoiding the lure of socialism/communism. Why should someone else have to work and pay taxes so that you can keep your money and house? You are totally focused on how great it is to receive charity, while ignoring the ugly confiscation from others to pay for the charity.

Actually you are, again, wrong....well until the ACA required them to do so or face significant penalties.

https://obamacare.net/obamacare-explained/

The ACA also required that insurance policies sold by insurance companies actually provide basic coverage -- unlike many plans that covered nothing prior to the ACA. I realize Republicans and Ben like to point out that the basic policy includes maternity and such things -- it was a recognition that spreading the risk among a larger pool lowered the costs for everyone on areas that they, too, required coverage. Not everyone will develop cancer; not everyone will develop heart disease or psychological problems (unless you hang out with Republicans); not everyone needs Cialis or Viagra; not everyone needs birth control. But there is a good chance that at some point some of those ailments will strike and with everyone sharing the basic cost, it is cheaper. It's the basic understanding of insurance which seems to be lost on most members of the one side of the aisle in Congress.

I suppose we could go back to selling the junk plans that covered little for exorbitant rates; we could let those without insurance just die on the street corners and throw their bodies into mass graves; or we could let them drag themselves into hospital emergency rooms where we could all subsidize their care and coverage which becomes infinitely more expensive because of a lack of basic, regular care and testing.

Your description of insurance ignores to 500 lb gorilla. Coverage of preexisting illnesses cannot be insurance; it is charity. It is is no longer a question of risk, and the other people must be charged grossly excessive premiums to cover those who did not buy insurance. People cannot pay those premiums. And since companies must pay for preexisting, why buy insurance until you need it? ACA attempts to penalize those who do not buy insurance but it makes no attempt to reach those who do not choose to file returns.

Like many others, I pay high taxes and pay hundreds a month for health care. Now the democrats say that I must also buy full insurance and pay for care for all those who do not work, or pay income taxes, or buy insurance, and then see my health care degraded as I wait in line behind those I am paying for. Worse the democrats will search for ways to discriminate against whites and males as for example in the Dodd Frank Act.

What exactly is the difference before and after? What changed when Trump became president? How much more is it costing you? Who are you paying for now that you weren't paying for before?

Why is this suddenly an issue now that Trump is president?

You have been schooled so many times on your nonsense about the Dodd Frank Act that your persistence in repeating the lie can only be the product of an obsessive mental state...or a purposeful repetition of the lie in order to knowingly spread false information.

My insurance premiums and those for my company, actually went DOWN with the ACA. Your rant holds little water and defies fact. Everyone, at some time, will have pre-existing conditions. If you find yourself in that group, perhaps you would have some sympathy but until then, enjoy your dollars to spend on more important items.

Yes it does....and on more than one occasion, it has been the moderator of this forum who has reminded you what it actually says.

No the moderator relies on the regulations as I recall. The important point for this thread is that it shows the democrats intent to slant the law away from whites and in favor of minorities and immigrants who tend to vote democrat. You cannot expect national unity for health care when we know that it will become a weapon of class, partisan and racial warfare once the democrats gain power again.
