Just got back from seeing it, and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Would like to hear reviews from some other people who've seen it.

I thought that it was good , but not as good as the first.

I would give it a B/B+ or 2 out of 4 stars

I liked the action scenes, special effects, and character/creature design much more than the plot. The toothfairies were pretty cool, as was the elf prince and his fighting scenes, and the fire girl's special effects was awesome, way better than johnny storm's fire, although I didn't care much for her broodish/emo attitude. The fish guy was so cute, his nerdy/geekines, how he falls in love with the elf girl, and his physique was actually pretty hot, toned but not too bulky. Too bad he didn't wear speedos at the base. The german guy was also kinda cool, but also kind of annoying.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but why didn't the sister just kill herself at the beginning before her brother killed the father?? If she was already resigned to sharing her brother's fate, she could have saved her father and the world right then and there. Why was she so ready to protect Hellboy at the end and not her father in the begining???, especially since she probably knew Hellboy's destiny to destroy the world since also she knew his real name and who his father is. Why did she even have to kill herself in the end?? All she had to do was wound herself enough to prevent her brother from killing Hellboy. She saw how much she meant to the fish boy, so why didn't she try to stay alive to be with him in the end? And what the hell has she been doing all those millenia since the golden army was made? Her brother became a very skilled fighter, she could have done the same or learned some elf magic or something other than be a pathetically weak, defenseless, and completely useless person. You'd think that with a father who spent a good deal of his life waging war against humans, she might have recieved some kind of training in combat or magic. That elf girl seriously pissed me off... :sheesh:

The fire girl also pissed me off, kinda. She was told by Death him/herself that Hellboy is going to destroy the world. How could she be so selfish as to choose him over the world? It would be more dramatic for her to chose the world and live with that decision while raising her children without him. As a sub-plot, his death could have negated his destiny of destroying the world and they would have to retrieve his soul to bring him back to life and defeat the elf boy and then lead a "normal" life.

This movie was obviously a segway to the third movie where Hellboy probably has to decide whether or not to destroy the world. Perhaps his children and the emo fire girl can change his mind. I really liked how the elf boy tried to show Hellboy how bad humans are, but I really hated how he used the last "forest god" or whatever it was called to do it. After it died, I was waiting for the kodama (the little white tree spirits in Princess Mononoke) to appear, haha.

I really want to see this. Which is confusing, considering how much I hated the first one. And I mean HATE.
But Guillermo Del Toro's movies are always sooo pretty, and Ron Perlman can make some pretty awful lines amusing....I'll probably see it.

the trailer makes clear that del toro had his fingers on the design :) i kinda semi-liked the first one. yet the plot was very weak .. i hope the second is a bit better .. or else my bf will annoy me with "told you so" for the rest of the month after i drag him into this movie (he doesn't like comic-adaptions :-/ )

I thought that is the effects were extremely well done, the plot was a bit iffy, but still somewhat good, and the main villain, although a bit creepy, was still a good one(and defiantly a good fighter) I really wish that the goblin crafter had a bigger part in the movie events, but meh.

For those who have seen the movie, without ruining anything for those who haven't, I'm wondering what the "double big news" will mean for the third movie, especially considering the Prince and Princess.

I thought the blue aquatic creature guy was sexy

...even though he wasn't human and stuff...
