Hey everyone i know this may seem awkward for a first post

BUT I am soooooo determined to have a turn around by the end of this week that I am even venturing to post on JUB with this oddball thread :P

So heres a little info about me: I am 22 years old and a recent college grad (class of 2007). Currently live about 1 Hour away from L.A.....oh wait who am i kidding, more like 2 hours on a good traffic day! Thus i need to move because all that time on the road is cutting into my productivity.

I am extremely goal oriented & ready to proceed with the next phase of my life "after college".

I'm hoping that some kind soul will read this and help me out with a place to stay in Los Angeles area in order for my career to move forward. This move to L.A. will increase my efficiency and productivity by ten fold.

I am very clean and i take my health and fitness very seriously, absolutely no drugs or bad habits. I can be the perfect roomie- either invisible or just a cool live-in friend (who is very respectful of you and the house rules)

What i would be able to provide in lieu of rent would maybe be some upkeep of the house and whatnot. We can discuss further....or maybe i could pay you part rent and supplement with chores and whatnot....im open to discuss...I have a great personality, witty , gr8 sense of humor too.

If you have an extra room just sitting there and would like to put it to good use by providing housing in order to help a young man get his foot in the door and at the same time make a great new friend, please reply!!

You don't say what your field is.

Also, one would need to know your sexual orientation before discussing sharing living conditions. No one would want to put you on the spot, or force you to say something you are not ready to say. However...this is primarily a gay site, so certain assumptions are bound to be made. Those "whatnots" are certain to pique interest!

At any rate, welcome aboard, and best wishes for success in your new career.

Probably you'll get more luck on Craigslist. Also it's unlikely that a gay man is going to take you in rent free for a long period of time without more than cleaning the house. Certain other duties are likely required.

Posting a pic of yourself, if you're hot, will increase your post's effectiveness ten fold.

Sorry, no. I live across the country from L.A.
My comments were intended to provoke more information for you and for people who might be prospects for your housing needs.

Well, let's be clear here.

What you're proposing is that you come out to LA and get employment and then essentially live rent free.

As someone's pet? or houseboy?

By my reckoning, your share of the rent, assuming a rate of $8.00 per hour, will only require you to put in 125 hours of domestic service each month. This amounts to 4 hours each day. With 1.5 hours devoted to light housekeeping and 2 hours devoted to meal prep and clean-up, this still leaves .5 hours to rake leaves and wash and feed the wildebeest.

oh so HE has to feed the wildebeest? I was wondering who was to do it.

What city do you live in now?

I don't see how you are going to do this unless you can move in with a friend/relative. LA is not exactly cheap to live in. One of my friend's was looking for an inexpensive place to live in los angeles and a MLS search turned up not one place under $1k in the entire county. He did find a place where he is going to share a home but he is still paying $850 a month for the room in the Glendale area. And that is considered cheap. The guy was willing to only take that much because he was impressed by my friend (as well he should be) ;)

No offense, but I know that I would not feel comfortable having a complete stranger move into my home. I would think that most people would think twice about doing such a thing unless they had a crappy home and did not care or expected additional benefits.

Good luck with your search. I will let you know if I hear of any possibilities but I think that you need to be careful and realistic here. You could really get yourself into a mess here.

Afordable housing in Los Angeles has really become an oxymoron. I'm not sure how people are doing it. The people that I know, they either have the money to do it, or they live with their parents or friends/roommates. If they cannot do that, they just don't come here.
