HELP Computer Problem....Please!!!

The UK firm went out of business three years ago !!
BTW my new PC is an Acer which came pre-loaded with Vista. I was asked to prepare a back-up disc once the system was set up and to up-date it regularly. It would be interesting to know if the same problem occurred on this PC would a new HD recognize the back-up disc.
 
Nolie you are my savior! I find that there is a sticker on the back of my old PC giving a Product Key for Windows XP Home Version. I would like to take you up on your offer of a copy CD and am prepared to pay you for your services! A friend thinks he has a CD but it would be an old version so it would need to be up-dated. PM me details please.
I see my new Acer PC also has a sticker on it giving a Product Key for Vista.
The back-up disc I created for my Acer PC is on two DVDs so it might be a full back-up.

Success, my old PC is working again on XP at a cost of £35 for a new 160G HD , thanks to the advise I received from you guys and in particular Noelie who sent me a copy CD. Microsoft accepted my Product Code for XP but I had to telephone to confirm the activation code for Word. I have found it an interesting exercise and have learnt a lot in the process, many thanks!
