Not really. Besides, I haven't looked at stats since 1992. I don't think the word "rusty" even comes close to how I am at it now.

I've said that my approach to my statistical inference final was like balancing a huge bowl of water on my head. I walked in, sat down, tilted my head down, let everything I studied sort of splash all over the final, then left...without having retained a single thing.

I can toss out things like "f-distribution", but I no longer know what they mean.

I'm surprised they actually make you take stats. I've got a geophysics degree and never had to take stats!

If they had you taking any math at all, why would it not be linear algebra? If you're working with images on computers, knowing something about how the images are stored really helps.

(example: An RGB .tiff image can be some resolution, say 800x600 pixels (or 800x600x1). It will take up a matrix exactly that size. Each element of the matrix will have a number representing red, green, or blue. If you want an image with more colours, the image would be 800x600x3). At least that's how I think it works, lol. It's something like that, been awhile since I worked with images.

believe me .. i have done the shit above - and statistics. statistics is really easy math just the i in there which is the imaginary unit is worth a few headaches.

^ most math is not that complicated. it scares you with formulas and all that stuff.

the good thing about statistics is that there are direct, real world applications. if you look at it from that perspective, and your textbook has some good examples, you will get it

I think I love you.

I deal with filtering on a frequent basis (for seismic or electromagnetic signals and stuff like that).

My favourite transform is the Radon Transform, especially when used to mute multiples in seismic data.

I'm in the class. Once a week. I think I get it. I take the mid-term. I get a 16/30.

I guess I don't get it

At least the class is only once a week. It lessens the pain. I'm good at math and I don't think I'd be able to sit through a stats class.
