Hi guys, new member here. I have a question regarding hep B virus, I am 24 and got my first dose of Hep B vaccine on July 4 this year, am supposed to get the second one in Aug and the last one in Jan. I am sexually inactive and am planning to do it for the first time with a guy I met online this Sat. I was wondering since I got the first dose of Hep B recently, is it alright to have sex with a stranger and not worry about catching the virus while I am getting the vaccination or should I wait for another 5 months to be sure I won`t catch the virus. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
are you or he planning on not wearing a condom? are you gonna swallow his cum? If you are gonna practice unsafe sex, then I dont think the vaccine will work. Im not a doctor, but that just seems like commen sense. Anyway, hope your first time goes well and you have a good time!
 
the vaccine will not protect you from hep b as of right now. that, you have to do yourself.
 
Taking the vaccination does not exclude you from using safer sex practices. Use condoms and you should be fine. BTW, I had sex while taking the hepatitis vaccinations too. I have not had any issues. I used condoms.
 
Do not do any rimming, which is said to be a source of the virus, more so, I believe than semen, since Hepatitis is a blood disease and can find its way into the digestive tract.
 
Thanks guys for all the advice, No, I don`t plan to have unsafe sex or swallow cum but I have heard guys don`t like having oral sex with a condom on. Is it safe to give him a blow job without having him wear a condom but not swallow his cum.
 
The research on HBV transmission via oral sex is inconclusive. Most cases involve either unprotected anal sex or contact with infected blood (i.e. shared needles, healthcare worker exposures, mother to baby transmission).

You may have partial immunity after the first HBV immunization however the full series of 3 is recommended to ensure full immunity. And as the other members have commented- prevention is always the best cure, so even after the full series, we still recommend that people use condoms for anal sex to reduce chance of exposure.
 
Hepatitis C is more serious disease than Hepatitis B but there is no vaccine for it. I rarely hear Hepatitis being discussed in safe sex/STD education. I believe Hepatitis virus spreads in same manner as HIV so oral sex risk is low.
