A little over a week ago, I attended a big family gathering. My niece's graduation party. I arm wrestled my nephew (college wrestler) and won. Subsequently, I also arm wrestled his wrestling buddies. Won some lost some.
The following day my right arm started hurting. Like a lot. At first I thought it was just DOMS from all the arm wrestles. Decided to not work out to let it rest. But after a few days it got progressively worse. Sharp pain especially in my bicep. About a week after, it was still hurting like hell and I finally said eff it I'm going to the gym. At first I worked out other areas of my body. Then I was like eff it so I started slowly working out my arms. Did 4 different routines with the arms, including pull-ups.
The pain went away right away. It's been a couple days and I still have full movements of my hurt arm without any pain at all. And I swear to god, right before I started working out that arm again a couple days ago I still felt sharp pain there. But as I started doing curls the pain went away.
Isn't that against what we are taught? We are taught to leave an injury alone. Why did doing curls, pull-ups, etc. make the pain go away almost instantly?
