Heroes adds a gay character--but it's a lesbian

I think Heroes is overrated but I like the idea of having a lesbian on the show.

zach was de gayed? 1 I cant recall it being said he was, 2 I cant recall them saying he wasnt

And Mehh im down with lesbians Roise, ellen and Portia Pride!!
The guy who created the show gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly and said he was written as gay, but the agent for the actor who was cast refused to let him play gay. He said it would harm his career. So they rewrote the part as straight. I don't understand why they didn't just fire the actor.

He didn't come off as straight, so much as they just dropped any mention of his sexuality. I', not bothered that we now have a lesbian, but come on does the show really need a another super cheerleader. IMO Claire is enough, we need other High school type to be a Heroes.

save the lesbian cheerleader

save the world.................

If the actor fought his character being gay that he's an idiot!!! His part is so not memorable at all!

Given the target audience, was there any doubt? The nominally straight female characters had already cornered the geek fantasies of cheerleader and stripper....lesbian couldn't be too far behind. But the possibility of a non-tragic gay male being seen as heroic? Too horrible to contemplate. Too bad about what's-his-name, but I think the gay fans invested too heavily in a minor character. Even if he were gay, he had no place in the larger story. (I would think the actor who played Claire's would-be rapist/murderer would be more creeped out by HIS role, but, then, I'm not straight.)

I don't really think a show should add a gay or lesbian character for the sake of having a gay or lesbian character.

The guy who created the show is gay and out. I don't think he's interested in creating gay characters just for the sake of novelty.

Then why do we know the sexual orientation of the character before, say, the character's powers? Why 'in' every single male hero so that there's no question as to their sexual orientation even when their storylines don't require a mention of status? Whatever his orientation, Kring''s involved in a network commercial venture, and male gayness is risky, while female gayness is marketable. Bottom line.

One of the things that heroes proposed is to have a great diversity of characters, and in how many shows there is more interracial couples then "not-interracial" couples???

The writers of sci-fi shows are dimwits. They really believe that their target audience are heterosexual, adolescent males. I've met like 10 times more gay sci-fi fans than straight ones. They need to get with the times.
