Loki, there's that too. But I don't think the correlation between obesity, diabetes and the increase of HFCS in the American diet can be overlooked.

Are you claiming that you weighed over 400 pounds because you were bingeing on healthy food?
that's kinda the heart of my point... is cake healthy if it's made with unprocessed ingredients?
Is it true that "glucose-fructose" on Canadian food labeling, is similar to or the same thing as HFCS in the U.S.?
Cake is what
Flour
Butter
Sugar
Eggs
Ain't no way you're making that healthy.
But obviously overeating anything is going to make you fat. But for the average person who is making a turkey sandwhich with mayo they are not expecting that the processed turkey is full of sodium and turkey byproducts, that the white bread will basically convert to sugar and also has HFCS, and the mayo has HFCS, trans and saturated fat. That's the problem. Ordinary food, some of which is advertised as "low-fat" or even "healthy" is full of unnatural ingredients.
No.
HFCS is something that doesn't exist in nature. At all. Your body is incapable of breaking it down.
Oh.. but stay away from "Crystalline Fructose" which is pretty nasty shit too.
Incapable of breaking it down? Actually, the liver can break it down. Where do you get your information?
loki is right....it don't matter much if its HFCS or refined sugar....
Peoples taste buds are so enhanced by salt and sugars of all kinds,as well as fast food, chinese and other restaurant chains serving food that is highly highly seasoned, that some people are forgetting what foods tastes like naturally. We need to get back to eating foods in their natural state and use minimal procedures preparing them.Save the highly seasoned and high sugar foods for a rare or (once in a while) treat, rather then daily consumption.
And staying active is key.
Ok, so we're clear on this... "High Fructose Corn Syrup" isn't corn, it isn't Fructose and it isn't healthy in any amount.
IT's a fucked up chemical that tastes sweet but your body can't break it down, causing your insulin to spike HUGE and it can lead to obesity, diabetes and liver failure.
It also blocks the message to your brain that you've had enough to eat so you stay hungry even after you've eaten. It's one of the main reasons that people are so fat in America.
