This season has had some of the worst "designers" since the show started. I agree with you about them voting off Courtland, I really thought he would be the overall winner. This program hasn't produced one successful show since David Bromstad's Color Splash, and he was the first season winner. All the designer's shows since have failed.

Of the three designers left, the only one who's show I would watch would be Casey's. I don't like the other two and could care less if they get their own show.

HGTV Canada broadcasted only the first season of it with David Bromstad. It has yet to pick up David's 'Color Splash'.

i think the show has probably run its course. the "designers" this season are less than impressive and its sometimes painful to watch them struggle to get stuff done.

i agree the best season was the first, with david bromstad, and it's gone downhill since then. i'm thinking this will be its last season.

I haven't seen much of the show, but I've seen Courtland bashed plenty enough and mistakes by the "judges" since the first episode.

They want someone who can host a show, yet I have trouble imagining any of these three doing that.

I like it, it reminds me of the Aprentice (one of my favorite shows).

I just cant stand Micheal, he's a real jerk.

I have to agree, This season is a total train wreck I blame alot of it on the judges. They have kicked off some talented designers and kept many that has horid designs.. I think this will be the last season of the show.

This is Tragic, because the man is GORGEOUS!!, and quite a talented designer. They replay his show everyday at 14:30. I've dvr'd them all. I never tire of watching the guy. Yesterday they showed him making over a firehouse patio. He was in shorts and shirtless! It doesn't get much better than that!!

I didnt like either of the final 2 guys. They were both so bitchy, arrogant, and rude. I especially didnt like how they treated Alex. In one of the challenges that idiot Michael had to go to the hospital and Alex did all his work for him. When he came back he barely thanked him. I'm hoping the blonde girl with the straight hair wins. She has the most personality to have a show.

Vern yip comes off as a bitter nasty queen with a chip on her shoulder.

Glad I'm not the only one who got that impression. Didn't know if he had been that way the entire time.

Perhaps he's upset because he vanished after Trading Spaces went away and no one paid attention to him anymore?

Didn't he leave before Trading Spaces left? After Paige was let go, they brought in a lot of new (and horrible) designers and let the 'old faithfuls' go. I know they brought back Paige and Doug and Hildi and Frank to try to rekindle the ratings, but it was too late. I don't remember Vern or Laurie or Edward or Genevieve going back.

The show died when they dumped Paige and even bringing her back couldn't pump life back into it.

Did he? I couldn't remember if he came back. Still, Trading Spaces was dead without Paige and bringing her back was too little, too late. It was still around that time that Vern fell off the radar. I think I remember him getting a show of some kind, but it was poorly advertised and I never once knew when it was on. Can't even say I know what channel it was on.

They should have let Trading Spaces go once Paige was gone. They seriously underestimated her impact.

I think the producers of the show wanted Vern to be what Simon Cowell was to American Idol. Still DesignStar is hapless and transparent. One can't assess individual talent during team challenges!

I agree with that point. I've wondered how, when making them do team challenges, they expect indificual talent to shine through. I seem to remember, during the Trump tower or whatever it was, they went after one of them (Courtland, I think) for not showing his individual talent.

If they want individual talent, stop making teams. Find it interesting in that format when the judges typically design alone. Vern and Genevieve worked with people, but it was their design.

HGTV, like Food Network, decide from day 1 whom they want to be next show hosts in these "contests". On Bromstad, you are alone on that one because his face looks weird and having a nice body doesn't equal sexy in my book. Regardless, he is an alright host/designer of that show he has...

David Bromstead just started a new season of Color Splash. He is now in Miami doing his magic with a whole new group of helpers. He is still excellent.

Something clued me in on the first episode that Emily (curly hair) had "favored contestant status."

Could it be that she didn't even try to save herself on day one, basically making it a joke, but they saved her anyway?
