I'm in a WIERD town...

I've been here EVERY OTHER week for the last nine months...

It seems that EVERY gay guy (with the exception of one that "hooked up" (four times in ONE night ) with a friend of mine last fall) that I meet is DEEPLY in the CLOSET...

ACTUALLY...

Every one that I've met has started the conversation EXACTLY as I titled this thread...

They ALL have FAKE identities on the internet -- and then twist them to their REAL identities when you MEET them...

Varhey lives here (and that's NOT his real name ) -- He STRESSED that he CANNOT use his REAL name on the INTERNET because that is the way the TOWN IS...

I'm VERY non-judgemental -- but I cannot QUITE figure out how a SMALL society as THIS town can CONFORM its citizens so CONCISELY...

I mean -- REALLY -- why CAN'T you live your life as WHO you are???

In Varhey's mind -- its because he is one of only several REALTORS in a DOWN market...

It's SO SAD!!! Even though this town is in the MIDDLE of NOWHERE -- its CLOSE (within a couple hundred miles) to SEVERAL gay friendly metropolitan areas...

What can WE (or I -- other than being TOTALLY open) do to make Varhey's life BETTER???

My mum once told me all about the village she lived thirty years in, all the gossips, the opinionated personalities, the friendlies and how every knew each other from the undergarments they had on the washing line to how many piglets in the pens they had or how many bowls of whelks they'd gathered from the shore....

With that level of bitchiness and lack of real privacy, I think a little space is always a good thing. Even if it is a kinda fake persona they have to put on For good or ill, the fig leaf is sometimes their way of coping with the uncertainties before them.

Lol, so much for a low profile! No thesis, swerve, just plain curiosity, and a bit of programming.

BTW, having been a little on facebook, I'm just surprised why folks share so much personal stuff on the net. Then when it comes to the government asking for info, they just get mad about the imposition... I think people are just plain wierd, period.
