Can't make out what it says for portugal, austria, and croatia.

Portugal and Croatia are F.H.S.o.M, or Federal Holiday States of the Mediterranean. Can't quite make out Austria either, but it seems to be something cake/cafe pastry.

Thanks for posting the map, Piquechampion. It is hilarious.

The map is by a Bulgarian graphic designer and illustrator Yanko Tsvetkov, who is now living in London. A bigger version of the map is available at his flickr account.

The Europe According to Gay Men map is from the set--Mapping Stereotypes: The geography of prejudice. My favorites are below (note: clicking on the image takes you to a bigger version of the map), although all of them are absolutely hilarious.

Somebody explain the meaning of why France is Twinkreich to me.

Reich (German for Empire) invokes the Third Reich, which is the name Nazis used for Germany. France surrendered to Germany during WWII. The illustrator is using the stereotype of the French being "Cheese-eating surrender monkeys".

As for twink, I guess France is known for twinks? I didn't know that.

france = frankreich => empire of the old west germanic franks)

I asked the designer and you were right. The maps are about stereotypes and prejudices, so my mind went to WWII.

In the Europe According to Germany map England is named as “Enigma Code Hackers”. A commenter wrote “Germans don't care about the details of WWII military campaigns. We leave it to the Brits to obsess about that stuff.” Heh.
