Egg on her face, yet again.

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton’s campaign is denying a Canadian report Thursday that suggests her campaign called representatives of that nation’s government to re-assure them that despite campaign rhetoric, they would not seek changes to NAFTA – an allegation they used against Barack Obama’s campaign in the days leading up to Tuesday’s critical primary votes.

"Unlike the Obama campaign, we can and do flatly deny this report and urge the Canadian government to reveal the name of anyone they think they heard from,” Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said in a statement.

Shortly before the Ohio primary, the Canadian network CTV broadcast a report that Obama economic adviser Austan Goolsbee had told officials with the Canadian consulate in Chicago that the campaign would not look to alter the trade agreement, even though the Illinois senator had pledged to do so.

That report became a lightning rod on the campaign trail in Ohio, where NAFTA is deeply unpopular.

The Canadian government has said it is investigating the source of the leak. The Canadian Press reported Thursday that the comment that sparked the original story may have come from Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper’s chief of staff, Ian Brodie – and that his remark had implicated Clinton’s campaign, not Obama’s.

The Thursday story also said CTV’s Washington bureau had initially decided to report on Clinton. The New York senator was mentioned in the final report, but it focused on Obama’s aide.

The Canadian Press said government officials did not deny the conversation took place, but that Brodie denied discussing either candidate.

Earlier this week, the Obama campaign admitted Goolsbee and consulate officials had spoken, but not under the direction of the campaign, and said that a leaked Canadian government memo implying otherwise had mischaracterized the substance of the discussion.

On Monday, the Canadian Embassy in Washington issued a statement on the controversy that “there was no intention to convey, in any way, that Senator Obama and his campaign team were taking a different position in public from views expressed in private, including about NAFTA.”

God...you guys sound like Gingerbread man from "Shrek".

"You're a monster!"

NOT OBAMA'S GUMDROP BUTTONS! NOT HIS GUMDROP BUTTONS!

She's a two-faced, lying bitch with a house built on sand.
I can't imagine anyone with common sense trusting that woman.

See, Ohio? That's why you suck.

And Obama is a pompus, substance lacking, broken record with a house built on a shady realestate deal.

Drop it, Pookey. It's possible that Hillary and her campaign have been caught in a despicable lie and smear campaign, and I guarantee that the Republicans are watching and loving every minute of this.

So much for all that bullshit talk about having more experience in foreign affairs. She can't even control the spin coming out of Canada. The Canadian media broke this story and their government is furious.
It was only a matter of time before she got caught up in yet another web of lies.

Her pantsuit is seriously on fire.

Why? You brought it up.

Its just so funny that when Obama fucks up its anybody's fault but his own.

You dodge so gracefully.
The Canadian government is saying it wasn't Obama, but Clinton who gave them the wink-wink about NAFTA.
Coincidentally, Bill Clinton was in Canada a week before the original story broke. Canada's saying the smear campaign against Obama has Clinton fingerprints all over it.

The Clintons screwed Ohio with NAFTA and lied to their fucking faces, again!
It's not surprising that Hillary would accuse Obama (or anybody really) of tactics she already had in place and was putting to work.

It doesn't get more monstrous than getting called out by Canada.

CANADA!!

LOL! It's Cloverfield Clinton!

Clinton's campaign has said from the start that they give full immunity to anyone who can name a member of Clinton's campaign involved in this.

No name has been provided.

But a memo has surfaced that named Obama's senior advisor who had this interaction with Canada.

No matter how hard Obama supporters try to smear, the truth is still the truth.

Actually, the Canadian government isn't saying anything about either candidate. Reading comprehension 101.

Not that I expect the truth means anything to Obama supporters, but here it is:

PMO: Officials only got briefing from Obama campaign

The Canadian Press
March 7, 2008 at 5:04 PM EST

OTTAWA — Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton never gave Canada any secret assurances about the future of NAFTA such as those allegedly offered by Barack Obama's campaign, Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office said Friday.

With the NAFTA affair swirling over the U.S. election and Canadian officials skittish about saying anything else that might influence the race, it took the PMO two days to deliver the information.

After being asked whether Canadian officials asked for — or received — any briefings from a Clinton campaign representative outlining her plans on NAFTA, a spokeswoman for the prime minister offered a response Friday.

"The answer is no, they did not," said Harper spokeswoman Sandra Buckler.

Obama misled voters of Ohio and Texas, just like he lied to voters about having passed nuclear leak legislation, and according to one of his senior foreign policy advisors Obama's misleading voters about his plan to withdraw our troops from Iraq.

Dubya all over again.

Excellent leadership there---instead of bringing their own people to justice, they expect people on a gay porn message board to finger who was at fault? Dubya all over again.

Im just taking a queue from you. I want people to back up their stories and accusations. Like you.
He has the story I'm sure he has the name.

1) NO ONE from the Clinton campaign met with or offered any assurances to the Canadian government about NAFTA. THIS IS A LIE. It was a statement by the Obama campaign, and it is not true. (See article from Canada below). This has been clearly stated by the Canadian Prime Minister's Office that this accusation is untrue.

2) One of Obama's top advisors DID meet with Canadian officials and offer assurances about NAFTA.

3) I tell you this as an offended Canadian - we do actually have a professional foreign service, and Canadian diplomats do know how to write a correct and accurate briefing on the signals and blatant statements being given by a possible future U.S. President's representative.

4) Obama himself actually said that no such meeting took place. It is now a well established fact that such a meeting really did take place.

5) Obama's campaign got in trouble over reassuring Canadian officials over NAFTA. This is a truth. This did happen. The Obama campaign responded by alleging that Clinton did the same. This is a lie. It never happened.

6) Like the Rezko fundraising scandal with Obama, this scandal is also being investigated (by the Canadian government), and will likely continue to be an active news story and investigation in the middle of the November race for President. God help all Democrats running for office and hoping for change then.

Clinton didn't brief Canadian officials on NAFTA stand: PMO

Layton accuses Tories of own double-talk

Hillary Clinton's campaign team has never told any Canadian officials that their candidate's anti-NAFTA statements are just political posturing, the Prime Minister's Office said Friday.
In the midst of the so-called NAFTA-gate affair, the PMO clarified — two days after it was first asked a question about the matter — that Canadian officials never requested, nor received, a private briefing from Clinton's aides on her position on the continental trade treaty.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper's chief of staff, Ian Brodie, reportedly told journalists that both U.S. Democratic presidential candidates had privately downplayed their anti-NAFTA rhetoric, but he now says he can't recall his exact statement.

"The answer is no, they did not," Sandra Buckler, a spokesperson for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, said Friday.
Meanwhile Friday, NDP Leader Jack Layton accused the Conservatives of employing their own form of doublespeak on the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Layton cited a U.S. legislator saying David Emerson, Canada's trade minister, told him privately last month that he'd be willing to reopen the 15-year-old trade agreement.
"It sounds as though the government is saying one thing and doing another," Layton told the CBC's Don Newman.

The issue erupted last week when it was reported that, even while Clinton and fellow U.S. Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama were panning NAFTA, Obama aides privately told a Canadian consular official their candidate was only engaging in "political manoeuvring" that shouldn't be taken as policy.

Not too professional IMHO if they are leaking confidential assessments to the press. Or are you saying that the Canadian government intentionally sought to embarrass Obama to help either Clinton or McCain?

Why? You brought it up.

I agree you Pookey very much. I am sick and tired of everyone trying to make this man look like he's perfect. The news media and some of you included. I am scared to death at what may happen if he is elected President. Thats why my vote goes to Hillary.
