Hillary having a little fun.

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton welcomed her traveling press corps aboard her campaign plane Wednesday with a humorous riff on the standard flight attendant speech familiar to commercial air travelers.

"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome aboard the maiden flight of Hill Force One," Clinton said over the plane's intercom as it taxied down the runway en route to Reno, Nev.

Nevada holds precinct caucuses Saturday; polls show Clinton in a tight three-way contest here with Barack Obama and John Edwards.

"My name is Hillary and I am so pleased to have most of you on board," she said. "FAA regulations prohibit the use of any cell phones, Blackberries or wireless devices that may be used to transmit a negative story about me.

"In a few minutes, I am going to switch off the 'Fasten Your Seat Belt' sign. However, I've learned lately that things can get awfully bumpy when you least expect it — so you might want to keep those seat belts fastened.

"And in the event of an unexpected drop in poll numbers, this plane will be diverted to New Hampshire.

"If you look out from the right, you will see an America saddled with tax cuts for the wealthiest and a war without end. If you look out from the left, you will see an America with a strong middle class at home and a strong reputation in the world.

"Once we've reached cruising altitude, we'll be offering in-flight entertainment: my stump speech.

"Once again, thank you for joining us on Hill Force One. We know you have choices when you fly, and so we are grateful that you chose the plane with the most experienced candidate."

I thought writers were on strike? Maybe Lancelot scripted it for her? You have to give her credit for trying to remake her image, though. If you can make a silk purse from a sow's ear.... The least she could have done was to memorize it.

You can bet Bill won't be boarding Air Hill.

Okay, that's pretty funny. I love that she has a sense of humor.

man is the bar fucking low or what?

a post from mr. serious nick cole about hillary being funny?

and someone needs to report that she made a funny?

nick - i thought politics was serious shit to u?

hmmmmm

Chance, you object to a little levity? Why?

couple reasons

1 - not that humorous - not at all - it's like me patting one of my kids (i coach hoops) for hitting 1 out of 10 free throws - "that was soooo good bobby"

2 - the author of the thread is mr life and death serious nickcole who chastises anyone for mentioning personality/style

3 - it's not off the cuff - it's rehearsed - does anyone talk like that really?

4 - not sure why this so refreshing moment is published - it's like giving money to charity so u can be written about

but most importantly for me - it's # 2

Yes, Chance, people do talk like that, really.
Sometimes they rehearse it ahead of time -- but she still probably got some laughs from the people on the plane, which was the whole point.

Oh -- in regards to number 4: is she supposed to not do things to lighten the mood on her plane just because someone might write about it?]#-o

She's not a comedian.

She was just trying to lighten the mood for a moment.

I think she did fine.

I criticize the extent some Americans value being liked over substance.

A winning personality is great but it says nothing about competence, decision making, work ethic, trustworthiness, reliability or sincerity.

3 - it's not off the cuff - it's rehearsed - does anyone talk like that really?

What's wrong with rehearsing?

The press is publishing a glut of moments about the presidential candidates. Interesting that this is one that annoys you.

i stand by my original post - moreso than ever ;)

and i will add ............

i agree - she did fine - course i wasn't there to hear her delivery - but it sounds goooood - but im not fawning all over her like u and lance bout EVERYTHING senator clinton does so ..........

u criticize to some extent? ur being too humble on this one - this is a major part of ur posting style - that voters care about the wrong things - that personality/style are nonsense - that results/ideology/competence are ALL that matters

rehearsing is fine - just shouldn't seem/sound rehearsed - this does - which kinda ruins the moment IMO - cuz then she's just an actress - not a funny person

this one annoys me particularly cuz ur putting it out there - and this is the only candidate/politician that u would do this kind of post for

it's very lance

the content is very un-nickcole - except that it's hillary

i think ur post is very telling

Posting "Hillary having a little fun" is fawning over her? Um ... okay if you say so.

1st of all personality & style r 2 different things - a person can b clever & have no personality. ;)

Secondly I've never said personality doesn't matter and results/ideology/competence is all that matters. That's ridiculous. My point is much more subtle, more significant and more specific.

My point as it relates to a presidential race has been proved by he's the one I'd rather have a beer with George Bush. To a destructive degree, too many Americans have come to value flash over substance and dismiss the corrosive effect of deceit and fakery.

It's supposed to sound rehearsed. The whole thing is a goof on the over-rehearsed dead-pan quality of flight attendent's announcements before take-off. Duh.

Yep. I support Hillary Clinton. I've never pretended otherwise. I also have never flooded this forum with new threads about Hillary. Pardon me for starting one that's positive and light hearted.

it's very lance

I can think of no higher compliment. He's a good man.

yeah - u posting about hillary being funny IS fawning over her - cuz ur the king of serious - don't recall u posting about ANYTHING that is funny before - refresh my memory nick but ur posting style is anything but funny

subtle? u? i think not - "bushrepublican" references ad nauseum hardly classify as subtle

if bush made a joke (and he does often) that played well - u wouldn't post about it - i think we can all agree

u bring up the style over substance why bush is bad (and i hear u) thing even here - but ur doing the exact same thing with ur girl - u can't appreciate gwb's style (funny) but u can appreciate hillary being so

"its supposed to sound rehearsed" - my god - now ur her comedic agent extolling the quality of her comedy - holy shit - i think giving her marks for trying would be quite enough

Pardon me? love it - ur busted and u know it

yeah - u and lance are both good men - but it "tells" that both of u are in the tank for hillary - see no evil hear no evil - can't wait for the next one - what's it gonna be?

hillary is kind to animals?

 Come now chance, barely a month after Xmas and all the goodwill has drained from thee. Stop being Ebeneezer Chance.

who me???

got plenty of goodwill

but pointing out the hypocrisy of one nickcole - especially when it is as transparent as this thread - is required

it's like listening to ny yankee announcers who during a game tell u how great every player on the yankees is - and ignore lack of hustle or smarts - in short homerism

that's what this is
