'Working Class' means 'White

Democrats bristle at talking about this in plainer terms. They say Sen. Hillary Clinton has found her base -- the "working class."

Didn't I say Hillary knows her audience? She started talking about the "white" vote right before West Virginia voting.

I wonder how she will cater to stupid and racist people when it switches to Oregon. I bet you she won't play the race card there.

She isn't. She is playing the we have rube's that display our wares card. She put Vallerie Plame and Joseph Wilson on air to tell everyone she has the best plan for surrender in Iraq. Of course Vallerie is just a low profile spy not interested in affecting political discourse so what would she know????

Oh yeah she is a victim, the tree huggers ought to welcome her with open arms.

The national candidate that Hillary and Bill both remind of right now with who they are appealing to is George Wallace.

Mazda, that post of yours is totally unclear to me what you are talking about or what point you are trying to make. Seems to be a lot of non sequiturs there and/or I am simply stupid. Both are real possibilities and not at all mutually exclusive.

But to make you happy, next time I go outside I will hug a tree.

I await any proof you have that any of us here have said racism does not exist. Your point whatever it may be seems to be so opposite what anyone believes.

I wish I had a dollar for every time somebody assumed the sarcasm of their post was implied. ](*,)

Without any clear indication to the contrary, expect your words to be taken literally.

i don't wanna call you stupid but i assumed the sarcasm of my post was implied by the words i used. of course racism exist but i wish i had a dollar for everybody who told me i was being whiny and self-victimizing when i implied that racism does still exist.

Don't feel bad. I knew you were clearly being sarcastic I do take up for you in this case. Obviously racism still exists, and I don't know anyone who is going to argue otherwise.

But in going with topic, Hillary's best chance is to turn Whites against Blacks for the rest of the contest and also go full steam ahead with appealing to Women. It could be argued that she already is trying even harder to pit Whites against Blacks in these last contests, and it looks like she did the "Women" part of that today in West Virginia.

Clinton, the former first lady, spent Mother's Day campaigning in West Virginia, calling for more progress toward full equality for women.

Please feel free to call me stupid. Most everybody does!

On other message boards - sports boards - that I belong to, when someone wants to be sarcastic, ironic, or otherwise joke, it is typed in green. It does help to have a visual to make the joke.

I know we disagree on the nominee. I am deeply bothered by the rhetoric I am hearing from the Clintons, the Senator sounds a lot like Barry Goldwater (low yield nuclear weapons: obliterate Iran) and both sound like George Wallace in the attacks on "elites" and appeals to "people like you." It disturbs me greatly.

I don't think you guys disagree on the nominee, either. Marley is an Obama supporter.

Would you criticize Obama for playing to the black vote?... no in fact you wouldn't criticize him for anything. I forgot, he's perfect.

You know, I think we're past this, now. The train left the station a while ago.

Obama is your nominee and will be going against McCain in the General Election. Hillary isn't in the equation in the General Election. So either support Obama and the Democrats or support McCain and the Republicans ... and quit whining. Take your pick.

How has Obama played to the black vote?

Don't forget, Clinton had the black vote until Bill played the race card in South Carolina. Hillary until then was winning about 60-70% of blacks voting.

How quick people forget.

Then why is there a thread discussion her "best chance?".... if she's out of the equation why not just not enter

Do you honestly mean to tell me that you think she can still pull this off at this point?

Forget why there is a thread title. That would be assuming she had a chance. She doesn't at this point, but if she did, then pushing race and gender would theoretically be her only chance.

Just this weekend alone, Obama turned the page when it came to Superdelegates in his favor. Hillary will win West Virginia and Kentucky. And Obama will win the rest.

He has the popular vote on his side.

He has the most Pledged Delegates and will have the most by the time all the contests are over.

And now he has the Most Superdelegates. And the trend is only increasing.

We've had a year's worth of bickering about who the best and most electable candidate is. The decision has been made and the people have decided. The time has now come to support the Democratic nominee ... or the Republican nominee if you want to make a spectacle of yourself and go against what your beliefs are and vote for McCain ... out of spite.

For all the Feminists on here, don't worry. There will be plenty more Female candidates for you to vote for down the road, that will have a lot more character and integrity than Hillary.

i thought racist people didn't exist anymore...

:rotflmao:

You gotta cut white people some slack, marley. They actually think racism in America ended with the Emancipation Proclamation.

(Kinda like they think "hard-working Americans" voted for Hillary because they like her!).

"Turning whites against blacks" has no part whatsoever in Hillary's efforts.
It is, however, a distinct part of the inspiration of several pro-Obamaites on this thread. Assuredly. A tactic that Al Sharpton is famous for. Repeated by some people, this tactic is a far less honorable ploy. In fact, they are trying their hardest, although I suppose they might not be aware of it, to assure that Senator Obama really does lose in November by an agonizing margin.

If asked, Hillary would say no to a klansman's vote.
But, Mayberry, NC? Sure, why not? They're Americans.

With all due respect, Kurn, what complete and utter bullshit.

What was Bill's little excursion earlier on in the campain if not racist when he questioned what we were watching in reference to Obama? When she asked rhetorically "what's going on here" a couple of weeks ago in reference to Obama's campaign, it was obvious to any intelligent person what was going on. She was playing the race card.

(I apologise I can't give the specific quotes but they were well played out in the media here so I assume they were just as prevelant in the US; I'm working off my wireless card which isn't quite as reliable as cable so I don't want to risk losing my connection)

Hillary is in this for what Hillary believes she deserves and if, to win, it means that she can besmirch her opponets reputation by "slights" and occassional "intimations and hints" about his colour, possible religion or whatever else, she'll do it.

From what we can see, she doesn't give a toss for her Party and now her true colours are coming out. I abhore the show but if only life were now more like Big Brother. "It's Time To Go.......Hillary"

Hillary had so much promise but she allowed her personal ambition to take over and as a result, Hillary is resorting to snide little inuendo's in relation to Obama that surely win her no friends?

I am saddened to see what I believe is a great woman resorting to such petty, nasty behaviour.

Didn't I say Hillary knows her audience? She started talking about the "white" vote right before West Virginia voting.

I don't usually defend Mrs. Clinton and I do believe both she and Bill have been unseemly in their use of race in this election but I don't think her West Virginia comment is a good example of her doing so.

She said white because she had to in order to keep her statement accurate. Had she said all working people she would have been wrong as those working people of color are not supporting her.

Obama may be losing some of those votes because of his race but Al Gore and John Kerry didn't get them either so there is more to it than that. (and I doubt Mrs. Clinton would receive the majority of them against McCain)

how many people would like to see obama and hillary arm-wrestle over the democratic nomination?? he's really scrawny and she wears lots of pantsuits so i think it'd be a fair fight.

I'd pay to see that.......although the jury is still out as to whether she can fight fair.

There is a new definition of racism.

RACIST = SOMEONE NOT SUPPORTING OBAMA.
After all; what other motivation could one have for not supporting the absolute virtue of Obama and not opposing the absolute evil of his opponents?

^That's interesting. Most of my friends are Obama supporters and are horrified at Clinton's "racism". Those friends of mine are well off whites that live in white neighborhoods, have no friends that are black and only minimal interaction with black Americans. Racism for them is a concept, another liberal virtue, not a reality.

I think there is a good case to be made for voting for a candidate that is black, based purely on race, all other things being equal; but I don't think everything is equal between these two candidates. I think Clinton is more electable, can attract the working class, black and white, and would have a better chance getting legislation moved.

It will not help anyone to elect another Republican or have an "inspirational" President that ends up a failed President.
