History: 1985-1990: 16-bit Graphical Computing

the document was written in a apple vs windows skew; that's to be expected.

what I don't understand is the animosity that apple fans have for microsoft considering that microsoft owns such a significant chunk of apple.:confused:

when you buy a mac due to spite of windows; you're actually still adding to windows.

Microsoft bought 300 million dollars of apple to avoid anti monopoly charges after being charged with stealing 2000 consecutive lines of code from quicktime. They have since sold their stock.

^ My understanding is it was 150 million dollars worth of stock - a 4.5% holding of Apple at the time, but with no voting rights. And you're right, all sold off now.

Microsoft having any significant holding in Apple is one of those weird urban myths.

It seems to me that, if as the article has slanted it, Microsoft had been doing everything wrong... Then they would not have ended up King of the mountain that is the Personal Computer arena.

Historical articles regarding the procession of events, regardless of the topic, are really more appealing when they do not carry such a painfully obvious slant and heavy axe to grind.

did you expect a good balanced article considering the poster ;)

maybe.

i worded my feelings poorly... lemme try again: :)

microsoft has helped apple for microsoft's own gain. both have benefited and have continued to benefit from the buyout. which means they're in bed with each other.

so i don't understand the animosity from mac fans who go to mac to spite microsoft.

i can understand going to linux, bsd or solaris if you have strong anti-microsoft feelings; but i don't understand going to mac if you feel the same way.
