As the economy got worse here in the USA, I notice more and more people are getting ticketed and pulled over. I see people getting pulled over for dumb shit.. its as if the cops are LOOKING for reasons to ticket people. Why are cops out and about when dispatch hasn't received any calls?

It appears as though the towns n cities are so broke, they are taking money away from the struggling citizens. I remember once Rome was suffering due to their broken system, that tax collectors were going door to door to increase revenue for their government. It's just so crooked that the system is encouraging law enforcement to take what little the people still have. The system gave tax cuts to the very wealthy and then went into recession because they gave away alot of our tax dollars to people who did NOT need it. To make up for what was lost in revenue, WE are having to pay the price. I think its so immoral and unfair.

Chicago has had to reduce their amount of policemen due to costs, and then tells the cops to try and work harder to get more money from the citizens... why does nobody do anything to stop this injustice or acknowledge it?

Please share the basis of your research with us. Which statistical methods have been used? How big was the sample size? "more and more" as opposed to which other days or times of measurement? how big was the increase, absolute or in percent? where did you get the statistics about the received calls? what questions have been used to determine the cops motivation of ticketing people?

as you surely didn't pull that all out of your ass, you must have this information .. right?

^ Perhaps the German police are still too decent to stoop to these practices, but in the Netherlands it is now the rule.

They're required to get their quotum of tickets regardless of the situation (this is an official policy, not some fantasy).

Sure Kris has a point.
These red light camera's are a prime example. Suppose to be used for safety "reduction in people running red lights" but thats bullshit as more and more cities put them up as fast at they can get them.
They are cash cows. Here the laws are different in regards to fines and points on your license if a camera takes a picture of your vehicles tag running a red light compared to if you are actually pulled over by a cop. In that case points go on your license and you can meet your accuser in court, with the red light camera the fine is less, no points, and you can not face your accuser to defend yourself.
Its the $$$$ its not safety.

Exactly! More accidents are happening because of this and I see accidents on the road in numbers I didn't see growing up. I've been in the car with people who halt to a complete stop to avoid a red light camera. Studies have proven this, yet nothing is being done to remove them. More money for the government taken from the people.

Johann makes a good point. Don't break the law and you will get to keep your money. Sounds pretty simple to me.
