I find my story kind of interesting, mainly because I decided to go big. I'm 29 and my parents have never known about me, even though I told my brother a while ago about myself and I'm out to all my friends.

So last night I went over to my parents and after telling them that they're about to hear earth-shattering news, I told them...

1. I'm gay
2. I'm involved with a guy
3. We're engaged

My dad's mouth dropped open and my mom cried for about thirty seconds, then she wiped her face with a nearby pillow and said 'well at least you've made a decent man of yourself and don't sleep around like the other gays'. LOL. My dad said it was fine but that it was a lot to handle in ten seconds. I called my fiance over and my parents were friendly, which is kind of monumental if you consider that they discovered I like men only half an hour before that.

Today my mother went with me to choose a venue for our wedding, which is in five months. My father invited my new father in law to play golf with him and my brother today, which I thought was really kind, and they hit it off pretty well.

I think I went big with coming out to my parents, and it makes me smile. Hope it did the same for you ;) I shouldn't have waited so long to tell them.

That was kinda brutal what you did to your parents, but my guess is they at least suspected.

Congrats! 1 question though, why did you hide it from them for so long in the 1st place? surely you shouldve been able to tell beforehand how accepting they would be? how did you expect them to reace before you told them?

By the way, Im not asking as an attack, more like 'research' to help me plan mine better, if I ever come out that is
