went to the GUM clinic to get tested because of a redish rash on the head of my penis after getting a blow job 2 weeks ago, she told me it's most probably herpes, so she gave me a course of tablets which i am on now

Now the guy who gave me that i didn't know at all, i was very drunk and didn't act in my right state of mind, so if he might of givin me herpes, if he had HIV, could he of givin me that ? i'm going out of my mind. all i did was get a blow job, but if he could of gave me herpes, could he of givin me HIV if he had it ?

Sorry, to hear that, but one lapse in judgement sure does make one think of "why did I do this" But you cnat turn back time.

Just hope that you did not get anything. Keep getting check ups and lab works to make sure.

Because if that is the out come your life is for ever changed.

Hope you come out of this ok and pray that you did not catch anything.

Go get tested, but oral sex carries very little risk of transferring HIV to the receiving partner compared to the one giving the blowjob.

Basically, HIV is going to be transmitted via two fluids that apply to you: blood or semen. The other two are vaginal secretions and breast milk, which you obviously don't need to worry about. Anyway, so unless he was bleeding or had fresh semen in his mouth and you had an open cut on your dick, then there's little to be concerned about. Saliva contains an incredibly small concentration of HIV which has never been shown to cause someone to contract HIV. I think the common figure is that you'd need to drink gallons of saliva in order to have a chance at being infected.

It's important to still get tested, just because there are ways in which you could have been infected (re: blood int he mouth, tiny cuts ont he penis, etc.) but in all likelihood, your risk was incredibly low.

What is the name of the tablets that they gave you?

Just seconding previous poster's comments that the risk of HIV transmission is next to zero.

But in these cases we always say get tested for your own peace of mind.

they gave me aciclovir 200mg 1, 5 times a day , got ma last dose of the 5 tablets a day tomorrow

they have givin me a HIV TEST for my own peace of mind, but ur mind runs wild with things like that , get tests back soon, so fingers crossed x

It will be interesting to see if the anti-viral is effective. Oral to genital herpes transmission is uncommon but a physician should be able to recognize herpes.

What's strange is the clinic gave you Medication for herpes not knowing if that's what it is....Huh????

Don't hand me a bottle of pills and tell me I have to take them for the rest of my life because you're "guessing" at what I might have...I don't think so..

Always get a 2nd or 3rd opinion when a Doctor says "Probably"...I would stop taking the pills and go to your Primary Physician or find one...This is your Life and you have to be SURE for yourself.

Regarding being given medication because you 'probably' have herpes ... the meds could have been given prophylactically

Better to start the treatment just in case.

But the studies have shown that there is some degree of cross-over between the two strains. And it's probably higher than we know because it is very seldom that studies are done to determine the strain. Most of the time, diagnosis is based upon visual exam and paitent complaint.

...LOL...Are you serious? So you'd take Meds from a Clinic Doctor that never treated you previously who's not certain what the problem might be? I don't think so...

If Oliver is taking STD medication and he does not have an STD it will damage his immune system..What if Oliver's rash is due to soap or cream? There is NO 2nd guessing with someones well being. The Doctor should have had results for Oliver or referred him to a Dermatologist to look at the rash on the skin..

End of story...You don't give STD pills because you THINK it could be something..Run the proper tests then make a judgement..

I think a recent increase in genital herpes in teenagers and college-age youth has been attributed to higher rates of oral sex and cross-over.

got my results before, every test came back negative, so i'm happy,

i asked the doctor about taking the tablets and if it wasn't herpes would it do any damage, and he said that it will do no damage what so ever, it will only do anything if there is a virus there to kill, so no damage done, and am all safe, never going to put ma self in that position again,didn't like it one bit !

sudocrem seemed to clear up my rash anyway !
