As some of you know i am dating this hot straight basketball player while his girlfriend is away.

I was on the phone talking with him earlier and he said, "hold on im getting a beep." I said ok.

Would you believe he had me hold for 14 minutes?

What the hell? I tell you if he didnt have a body like Carmelo Anthony and the penis of a horse i would so have cussed him off for making me hold on so long.

How hard is it to say, "hey im going to be a minute, let me call you back in 15 minutes ok?"

I think that was very rude, but of course i didnt tell him that as to not rock the boat and i do like him alot so i guess i might have held on even longer but point is i feel its bad manners.

Tell me you will call me back or ask me to call you back, but dont have me holding on forever.

What do you think is the appropriate amount of time a person should have another person on hold for?



On a side note i also dont like it when people say, "let me call you back" but never do but offtopic:


Oh look at the time gotto get to bed so i can get up early and go shopping with the girls. I have to beat the rush. Its so funny i was watching the news an people are already camping outside of major outlet stores, its crazy. Ill go get some sleep and just cut infront of them in the morning lol.
 
Is it improper to keep someone on hold for 15 mins? Yes it is improper.

However, others have said before:

As much as I may find your threads amusing, there's part of me that wants to slap you.

I feel if you find someone more tuned to what you need, things will be much better.

Two things I have to say: First, he is in a relationship; two, there's are things better than sex.

haha my friend made hold on longer i was on hold for 20 mins. and that was annonying he forgot that i was still on the line waiting for him. but yea it was wrong of him but i am very patient so i didnt mind it at all.

i let the beep go to the machine, thats why i have it.. the person i'm already talking to is my priorty. or if i'm expecting a call i tell my current conversationalist just that.."hey, i'm expecting a really important call so let me check it and i'll call you back, it may take a little while...ok, bye."

i can't think of anyone i'd sit with my thumb up my ass waiting on hold for 15 min. my time is of value too. he was totally disrespecting you. in a really unusual circumstance maybe 3 min's but not f***ing likely!!!!!!:mad: :mad: !!!!!well,that's my opinion for what it's worth.

Thats one of the reasons i dont like call in waiting because it makes you have to choose between friends.

I can think of someone although i would never do that again.


When i was younger and foolishly inlove with this converted straight man.

One night we were on the phone and he said, "hold on."

After about 90 minutes yes an hour and a half i decided to hang up. What makes it worst i thought he was going to be mad at me for hanging up the phone if he actually returned.

The next day he called me and pretended as if nothing happened last night. So i had to be the one to bring it up. You are not going to believe what he said:

Newboy12: Hey baby umm, what happened last night, i was like holding for you?

Ex: Oh yes, its like this babes, i really like talking to you and i did not want to have to say goodbye, so i told you to hold on instead. I was very tired so i went to bed and totally forgot.

You can imagine my outrage and shock and horror. Was this man for real? oh yes he was serious. I was so pissed, but i never let him know it, but my friends never heard the end of it.


Another time we were talking and you would think i would learn my lesson.

Newboy12: So what time do you want to go?

Ex: Hold on ok

45 minutes later he returns

Ex: Hey babes

Newboy12: Hey ( i dragged out that hey trying to send a damn message that you kept me on hold for 45 fricking minues, what the hell?)

Ex: You missed me?

Oh this man cannot be serious.

Newboy12: What were you doing?

Ex: Ironing a shirt.

In my head i said, "What the fu_k?" oh hell no.

Newboy12: Baby couldnt you just tell me that you would have called me back when you finished ironing your shirt, or better yet couldnt you have talked to me while ironing your shirt.

(Hell i was so into him i would have ironed his damn shirt for him.)

Ex: Look dont give me all this crap i am back on the phone so just drop it.

And it was dropped.

And that is not even the reason why we broke up lol.

Count to ten, if you are still on hold hang-up and they can call you back, you have better things to do than holding a dead phone and if they don't get the message the first time be a bit blunter! Now go clean your room, you could have done that in 14 min ;)

yes, i did come in here bangin pots and pans (more or less) this summer. lately school and my social life have been taking up all my time, and when i get on the computer it's rarely not for papers or some shit like that.

but school's been alright, i'm dating a girl right now but i don't know how long that'll last.
