Holy Crap ! I Have a Diabetic Cat !

Well.

Just a sad update, everyone...

My cat, my best friend, is more than likely dying tonight.

He's at the vet's overnight. Hooked up to IV's, in liver failure.

I tried my best. I gave him his insulin shots every twelve hours, I fed him his special food. He was such a fantastic cat, but I can't beat what....

I dunno

Whatever life (or the lack thereof) had in store for him.

I think I'm done with having pets. I can't go thru this pain again.
 
Joshua---I am so sorry---My ex and I lost a cat to diabetes a few years ago---don't close yourself off, you have a lot of love to give. I would miss my babies if anything happened to them and I would miss the unconditional love and comfort that a pet can give.

I am so sorry Simba is not well.

You know I have said what you did after my cats have gone and I've never lasted more then 6 weeks to 2 months without one. There is just something about having something greet me at the door when I come home that I miss.

And now again I am facing the possiblility of losing another. This time I know after a few weeks I will get another cat.

Simba is holding on by a thread as I type this...

"Dr. Dave" seems to think he might respond to some antibiotic that targets the liver, or something like that. So, we're giving it a go.

I'm sure it's going to be another $1,000 or so. Everyone I know says to just 'put him down', but they don't understand.

I'll keep you all posted.

Well Josh, I do undertand and I have spent a small fortune on my kitty. I don't regret a penny of it.

I hope things work out for Simba and you two get more time together. (*8*)
