Funny thing is, the 'backward compatibility' on this system has a lot of bugs. And is not working correctly, so the people buying them from ebay are suckers. I'd never by a new system at launch, there are always bugs, waiting for later models is a best bet.

Hell, I haven't even bumped up to the Xbox 360 as I'm still a little put off by the $399 price tag. But that may change now that Gears of War is out. I'll have to get one anyhow when Halo 3 comes out next November.

I dont understand why all you people are so mad at these people. I mean its their money, and their time. If they want to stand in line all night and pay $500 on a system and have fun with it, then what is your problem with it?

Why don't you give people shit who spend thousands of dollars on some piece of art, that all you do is hang up on their wall and stop marveling at after about a month or two? Some would argue, "its art". Game development is an art as well. People sit in a room for countless hours and months makin realistic renderings of the human form or some other complex for with realistic movements as well. Google Final Fantasy and see how beautiful some of the things in that game are. At least with game consols they can actually play them. They wont go to waste(for a couple of years at least), it adds to the economy AND people are actually happy.

You know, your misunderstanding of these people buying super expensive toys, is just like homophobes not understand why guys like sucking dick. Not saying they are of the same importance, but pretty much they sound in the same category. (misunderstanding that leads to some unknown anger.)

I'm not amazed at people who want a PS3, because I can definitely understand that. I'm amazed at people who want a PS3 before everybody else, no matter what the cost or how long they have to be outside to get it and no matter how buggy the thing is. Buying the PS3, if you can afford it, is fine. Buying the PS3 at higher price just because you (general) want to be the first kid on the block who has one is stupid.

There are enough quality games on PS2 for me that I won't need a PS3 for years. I could play Katamari Damacy, Shadow of the Collossus, and FF XII and all my other older PSX games over again to keep myself entertained.

I've heard reports on the radio where sales are way down from expectations by Sony. They had planned on selling over a million sets in Japan. To date, they've sold just over 200,000. Nintendo's Wii, on the other hand, had already sold over a million units there.
