"Hope and Change" are just words

When the opposition controls one house of Congress and decides to be totally obstructive, the executive is powerless.

Most likely but I suspect the truly great leaders can overcome even that but we haven't had one of those in a while. But the statement I was responding to was the President cannot be effective unless his party has a filibuster proof control of the congress. Hey if we have all the cheat codes we can all win the game but a good leader doesn't NEED complete control of congress. I think a healthy minority (and that means one willing to compromise) is a good thing in politics. I think one party have complete control of Washington would be just as bad if not worse than the current situation. It is hard to pass bad legislation when you aren't passing any legislation at all.

"Southern Strategy" (Nixon) just words.
"A Thousand Points of Light" (Bush 41) just words.
"Mission Accomplished" (Bush 43) just words.

"Obama a one-term president" (Mitch McConnell) more than words.

Read the book: Don't Ask What Good We Do by Robert Draper. It's all in there.

Yes and Presidents do act outside the law, as BO granting amnesty to illegals.
Not true. Funds to help the children of illegals was already allocated. No need for obstructionist Congress.

So you're just one more who thinks that government exists to give you freebies?

What happened to "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"?

I don't expect entitlements, but what i look is who is looking out for me and my situation and which candidate will most have a positive effect on my life, i do not look for "free money" nor anything like that. What is important for me may not be important for an older person and vice versa.

I vote for what's right. I've voted against my own "interests" more than once. What's in everyone's interest is far more important than what's in mine.

I doubt that. Capitalism and free enterprise are demonstrably in everyone's interests (except politicians pandering to buy votes), but your bizarre hatred of corporations is a denial of economic freedom.
