The first one was fucking awesome. I don't get why people say it's gory.
The second one had about as much violence as a Hallmark presentation. For fucking serious. Piss me off. He wanted it to be more story -centric (flesh out the Hunting Organization), which is hey, fine, as long as you deliver me some good gore. But did he deliver? No. Fucking piece of shit.
I don't understand Eli Roth. He's a good director (post Cabin Fever mind you) and he idolizes the same people I do - - namely that sadistic bastard Takashi Miike and the brain-fried Dario Argento, and to a lesser extend that Sono dude who wrote Suicide Club. Now THOSE lunatics can make a movie with gore. But Eli? Come on! I'm starting to think he'd vomit if he ever watched Mermaid Flower.

just saw it today and thought it was just about OK. Not as gruesome as the first one (though still pretty nasty). Stupid ending though. The re-selling of the 'damaged' girl was just ridiculous and the mexican stand-off and re-negotiation thing was dumb too, the goons would have just killed her in a heartbeat and there was no reason for the head honcho to be anywhere near the place.
Another thing, with so many backpackers disappearing in the same place, surely someone would be looking into things.
I also watched Shrek 3 straight after. Bit of a contrast.

Stanislav wasn't a bad guy in this film... hes the one being eatten later....
Also... I have to say ..it takes a lot to upset me or even make me uneasy in a movie... but this one had a scene which did it for me... the "Elizabeth Bathory" scene...I don't know why it struck me as it did but it was pretty freaky....
