The travails with Tumblr:
As you probably have heard, Tumblr decided to remove all "Adult Content" from their site and become a wholesome family affair. They did provide us Blog-owners with some notice and defined "Adult Content" as any visualization, (photo, drawing, video or GIF), of the act of sex or of the genitals or women's breasts. They then unleashed a software package or AI application that judged the content of each and every post.
Offending posts would be "hidden" from sight and a banner displayed stating that "Adult-Content" has been found and this post removed from view. However, if you feel the "A-C" designation incorrect, click the "APPEAL" button and a "live human" will render judgement. The steps of the process are shown below:
Not certain if being a Corporation, they have unreal humans - but that's a possibility. A live human reviewing might be preferred over a dead human, but then again, maybe judgement on A-C changes with death.
They also send you notification that they have designated a post as A-C. The notice refers you to the Guidelines and does not have any link to the offending post. You have to search out the offending post by going through all the posts you have made (over 18,000) till you stumble across the offending one and decide whether or not to APPEAL or delete. The post are most recent to oldest, or, January 2019 back to October 2012.
When the live and real human makes their determination, you receive yet another email. This one has a link to the post so that you can see the post that was saved.
The above shows the effective communications sent by Tumblr. I have just determined to waste and hour or so each morning fast forwarding through my remaining posts to see if something new has occurred.
The most aggravating issue with this implementation of wholesomeness is the cryptic "Flagging" of posts that offers no "APPEAL" and seems completely abusive in nature. See example below:
Lets us be absolutely clear: somewhere in the string of reblogs there might exist. Sound like a trump policy on immigration.
As I've come across those posts, I try to save the image and then delete the travesty from Tumblr; photoshop the image into a bigger better photo and then reblog in hopes that a) I get a clean post or b) the post gets flagged with an APPEAL possible so that a Real and Life Human can bring some enlightenment upon the issue.
My 18,000 post blog now stands at 6,000 but growing. It still has posts under consideration and a few "Somewhere evil exists". It is a slow process.
Of the appeals, I've won over 90%, not that I'm counting. Why the effort? I like the bigger pictures, I like having #tags added to each post with "Otter", Pits, Nipples, Ass, Swords, Cigars, Ladders, Dogs, Cats, Couples, Kiss, Kitchen, Couch, Bed, etc.
So I'd best create a post for EJM with some nudity or she will be grumpy.
thanks
