Thank you, dear cousin I'll post what I intended to then. As children, how many of us were warned by our mothers to not go out without a vest on? (Or is that a British thing?)

Excellent theme! I especially like the wet one (first pic) and the black one in the middle of the second post.

Calling it a vest is a British thing, but I think mothers are similar here. I hate that they're called "wifebeaters" here (well, not when our mothers say to wear them). I expect a certain amount of sexism to remain in our language and don't usually make a fuss, but that term is so unnecessary.

I too hate the term wifebeaters and I don't believe I'd ever heard it until I came to JUB. Incidentally, what is the garment called when a woman wears one? Anyway, I think the absolute correct term over here for vest is singlet, but the word is hardly ever used now.

Some people would use the same term. Less offensively, for either sex, it's a tank-top style undershirt, but people don't actually say that whole thing. I usually say "undershirt" when I mean an undergarment for the chest that isn't a t-shirt. Tank top for either sex can be street wear or undergarment - it usually refers to anything sleeveless with larger armholes or narrow across the shoulders. It's sometimes a racerback tank top (whether or not an undergarment), when the back is more narrow, especially for women since they'd want a "racerback" bra to go with it. The male version is sold as an A-shirt (athletic shirt) in the underwear department.

I think, though I could be wrong, that the term "wife beater" came from the tendency for U.S. "Rednecks" to wear A-shirts, and, supposedly, keep their wives "in line" with applied "negative enforcement".

However, I do like those pics!

I'm getting a better idea of why wrestling is so popular. Besides the sport itself, of course. Also, I just finished reading a book in which it was featured. The author (Greg Herren) included what seemed to me as great descriptions of the characters finding it hot. One character used to make wrestling videos.

Try to stay away from opening any umbrellas indoors, they tend to block the view....
