Today I was working out at my gym, and I noticed this hot guy come in about halfway through my workout. I probably wouldn't have even noticed him, but he went to the bench in front of me. Being that it's a free country and all, I was watching him while I was resting between sets.

He kept moving in front of me and staring at himself between sets or walking by me to get a drink. It was probably just chance, but whether he knew it or not, he was putting on a nice show. Anyway, I'm willing to bet this guy is totally straight. If he was doing it on purpose, he probably just liked the attention.

I started to feel kind of bad for the guy though because it looked like he needed a spotter. At one point, he even asked one of the guys who works there to spot him on his last set. So, I figure he's either a regular or used to work there. (I think I may have seen him before, but I really don't recall well)

I considered offering to spot for him, but I didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable being that I was watching him and all between my sets. He clearly knows the people working there, and since I really like that gym, I don't want to piss anyone off.

So, you think I should've offered to spot for him?

I don't normally work out at that time, so I think I might start going at the same time to see if he's a regular. I'm really just curious now.

A gym buddy? A friendly acquaintance? Then offer to spot for him.

But don't just hang out so you can ogle the straight guy without talking to him.

That would be just creepy.
 
It's creepier to have a guy staring at you without saying anything.

You could have offered to spot him.

You could also introduce yourself since you see each other fairly often and he needs a spot.
 
Offering a spot is an inoffensive way to meet somebody at the gym. Go for it!

lol Ok, maybe I should've been more clear about the staring. I was doing my own workout routine, and I wasn't staring per se. Just paying more attention to him than the TVs. I promise I wasn't creepy about it.

I'm not sure I'm really looking for anything other than an acquaintance. I just didn't know if it was creepy to offer to spot someone. (Asking isn't creepy, but I think offering is even if well intentioned)s
 
Always offer to spot someone. If a guy needs spotter, gay or straight, they will appreciate the offer. If they don't need one, and you offer anyway, they'd consider it a nice gesture. So, you can't lose.

If they're straight, fine. If they're not, it's also a great conversation starter.
 
He sounds pretty gay to me. And pretty self-involved if he's always staring at himself.

Update:

Turns out I was right. This guy does work at my gym. I've seen him there once or twice now. He seems really shy.

I'm still trying to figure out if he's into guys at all. I'm starting to think he may be a little. It's hard to tell. Judging by his car, he could be. (What a horrible indicator, but hey, gay guys do drive some stereotypical cars)

dude, STAY AWAY...hot guys pracin around the gym are the worst cock teases EVER....it never fails, let one of them check you out, checking them out and it could go into a year long eye game and nothin will come from it....i believe most guys who go to gyms are gay or bi (just my opinion) and are just dying for guys to check them out.....i hate gyms for that reason alone...instead of a women's only section, they need a dnt stare at me in general section only...

well, i usually dont say anything because i live in the south, and most guys here pretend HARD to be straight...plus. you dont wont to hit on some hot guy at the gym and him turn you down...then., for the rest of ur membership, you will feel uncomfortable because you're the gay guy who hit on him...ALSO, i dont hit on the cock teases that pran around my gym because they alll know each (esp. the ppl who work their) and i dont wont to be the one snickered at because i hit on some meathead frat closet case...

and to answer your second question, NO..gyms are not good places to meet guys, atleast where im from....
 
When I say "go talk to him", I don't mean walk over and say "Hey, wanna fuck?" I mean go TALK to him. Start up a conversation. See if you click. You can work towards the "I'm gay" step later if you get positive reinforcement.

Gyms are excellent places to meet guys and I'm pretty sure thats true wherever you live...but if you think that a guy is only worth talking to provided he'll put out, then you've got the wrong attitude.
 
Please, don't pursue guys at the gym. Sure they're nice too look at, but remember that they are there working on their fitness (to quote Fergie) and the gym is not a social setting. You get in, do your shit, and get out.
 
Update 2:

So it turns out the guy's jailbait anyway. Never would've guessed because he looks 20-22. That might have been why he as looking at me. I'm pretty much the youngest regular there, and he was probably trying to figure out who I was.
