Hot new John Carter of Mars. Trailer

Re: John Carter (What was Disney thinking?)

i saw it over the week-end. it wasn't that bad-shirtless taylor definitely helps a lot.
i'd be surprised if there's a sequel. i don't understand why it cost 250 million to make
most of it looked like it was shot in the desert. happily taylor's costume wasn't much-that couldn't have cost much. must have been some pretty xpensive cgi.

You know there wont be a sequel cuz it probably will fall to number 5 this weekend and drop even lower after that........I don't get the $250-M budget either considering the promotion of the film was next to NOTHING...

The Huge Flying-crafts looked like Huge sofas with brooms attached to them........Now the Tall-Green-4-armed Aliens were on-point...The fast-moving Monster-Mut/Dog was cute but it's appearance seemed to be inspired by McDonald's "Grimace"...

Re: John Carter (What was Disney thinking?)

I was just relaying a figure I read. Disney knew before the release that the movie was going to bomb, but decided to promote it anyway - just not quite as aggressively. (Sorry. No idea where the article is anymore.)

An article: Link

Yeah, it looks like about $150M for marketing ($250M production and it needs to make $400M to make back production/promotion). I sorta wish the big movies weren't doing that well. I wonder why they scheduled it so early...

Re: John Carter (What was Disney thinking?)

WOW. I feel so bad for Taylor - he is this years Brandon Routh a- Kitsch's Carter is Routh's superman.

was hoping it would be good given the director. oh well.

Re: John Carter (What was Disney thinking?)

Haha, nice thread starter, Majestic. I heard John Carter was a mess and instead of something great that it was advertised (whorishly) to be. All that money into this movie and it bombs at the box office.

And I'm with you on the Ed Nortan-Hulk complaint. That's some major bull, but at least Ed joked about it and doesn't have any hard feelings really, telling Ruffalo something along the lines of "It's your era for Hulk, everyone's getting one." Three actors have played Hulk so far and even though Avengers hasn't hit theaters, I know Mark won't surpass Nortan. He just isn't...Bruce Banner, that slim science guy who struggles with a raging, powerful beast on the inside.

I just don't get it.

Amen....I guess Marvel Studios never had Hulk 2 on their filming schedule...Very odd....Maybe they're gonna wait and see if viewers take to Mark in "The Avengers"....

This weekend I'm going to see Nick Cage's next installment of "Ghost Rider"...I havent heard a thing about it..Nick needs FAST cash these days and he's doing every flick that is thrown his way.....We know how sequels to block-busters usually fair....

I Love Nick but if "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" is a Hot Mess and he doesnt redeem himself from "Season of the Witch" I'm gonna Rip him a New One...

Re: John Carter (What was Disney thinking?)

^ I read at least two of the books and I still think what Disney did here was inexcusable. This movie had an estimated budget of 250 million dollars.
Now compare it to the entire Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy which cost a total of 282 million dollars.
