Hot Professor, what would you do?

I have a really hot professor this semester. I think he's in his 40s but looks like he's in his late 20s. But I can't stop looking at him and finding it hard to concentrate in class. The cool thing is that there are rumors that he is gay. He doesn't wear a wedding ring and I heard someone spotted him in the gay part of the city.

I know there are a bunch of threads about crushing on teachers. And I know there won't ever be anything between him and me. But let's say you were in my shoes. Would you do anything?

well I would be all over that even if he wasn't gay....

I have so many professors that are hot!

I mean he might also be attracted to you but he probably wouldn't do anything because he's a teacher and he probably likes his job!

For now just enjoy the eye candy.

Lol, that's what I have been doing. It sucks. When he is lecturing, he looks at his students. It rocks when he looks at me, but I'm too afraid to smile and definitely to wink.

I know, I have this professor that's really really nice (+ hot) and he gives everyone the warmest smiles.

Every single time I melt.

At my school we have this ''dine with a faculty" program. Basically, once an year a student can take any faculty member out to get to know him better at the Faculty dinner club thing. It's also free!

I've been thinking about doing him, but I dunno, I might spazz out or something!

Ok, maybe he looks 30ish but only if you stare at him good. If you pass him on the street you would think he was in his late 20s.

Hungrybrownbear, I think you should take him out. It's free and probably encouraged by the department. Just an added bonus you get a hot professor to take out.

Go in it thinking the dinner is for him to help you academically. You can pretend you are interested in his field of study and would like to look into grad/doctoral programs. So create a bunch of questions like you would if you really did wanted to advance with your degree. Bring the question with you.

Oh jeez, you act like the prof has no self-agency in the matter.

If he expresses interest now, it's more likely something may come of it after the class is over, at which point there would no longer be the conflict of interest that could get him fired.

Edit: Student/Prof relationships are mainly considered bad from the whole "fuck the prof, get an A" angle... especially in post secondary institutions. If he's no longer his student, then it doesn't really matter. But in the mean time, there isn't really much harm in just communicating some level of interest, as long as it isn't acted upon until it's appropriate.

Yup, I think If I decide to do take my professor out, it'll be because I'm interested in his concentration! He is a teacher in my major.....
 
There's nothing wrong with dating a faculty member as long as you're not in his class and he has no direct/indirect influence on your academic progress. If he's higher up, like a dean in your major, there might be a problem, so it would be best to talk to HR, the ethics dept, or whatever handles that stuff.
 
True, I wouldn't do anything now that I'm in his class. But I also had a professor who dated his student back in the day, and they got married.
 
Indulge your fantasies, finish your courses and move on.
A twenty year gap isn't worth it.
But what do I know, as Michael would say....
 
Age difference has nothing to do with it.

It is a question of what is correct and what isn't. Pushing on your teacher is not appropriate behaviour.

Appreciate his physical appearance, fantasize over him as much as you like and enjoy any attention you might get from him. But leave the hooking up with him out of the equation.

As you so rightly said 'nothing is going to come of it'.
 
I wouldn't do anything to harm his career, and yeah I know nothing will come out of it. It's just nice to stare at him. But, I do like older men. Age doesn't really matter to me.
 
Well I have to disagree with you. I believe a lot of men get better looking as they age. I am attracted to guys in my age group as well as outside. Just with appearance alone and excluding personality and all that, attractiveness trumps age (unless they are under 18 ).
 
Sadly, my class with this professor ended. Though, I made an amazing discovery today at work. I decided to Google him to see his literary work, and I soon landed in a social networking site where he was signed up. Two amazing findings:
1) His profile picture: him shirtless. And he has an awesome build.
2) Through the few pictures he has uploaded, I learned he is in fact gay, or at least bi. There was one picture with the caption of him and his ex boyfriend. And the other few pictures were him hugging other guys.

God, he's hot. I have given up dreaming about him since I first posted this thread, but his profile and learning he is gay re-lit my fascination with him. In a way, I am glad my class with him is over now that I know he is gay (just cause I would not know how to act around him). But on the other hand, I won't be able to see him anymore.

Oh and my guestimate of his age was correct.
