Okay, so now that the bankruptcy is over and done with, I've decided it's time to start looking for a house. I've found several that sound promising, just waiting until next week to view them - don't have much time this week. The one I really like is a HUD home ($67500 for 2 bed 2 bath, basement, garage, large partial fence backyard), which means I could get it for next to nothing since I'm a teacher and first time buyer.

I'm tired of living in a rundown dump that the landlord refuses to fix up, even after the fire marhsal and health officials have sent notices. And yes, I know my renter's rights -in a delicate situation here. I'm currently renting under the prior landlord's lease -no lease with the new landlord, so have to step delicately around things.

And the trees I planted... the oak tree is definitely dying. The county extension agent came by to look at it and said there's no real hope of it coming out of the situation. The one in the backyard should make it, as he felt it just suffered some shock from the transplant and probable root damage from when I cut the plastic container away...

Other good news, summer is here and I don't have to take any college classes! I received my Master's degree diploma in the mail over the weekend, so I am done with my own education! (At least for a year or two, til I get bored)

Summer school is almost over. I went into my classroom today and lots of things are happening. My walls have been repainted, and the supports were in place for my new SmartBoard (awesome technology), and they were putting my new computer in place. The new textbooks and materials are very very technology friendly. There's a powerpoint presentation for every math lesson. I can't wait to get started with all the cool stuff!

I'm looking forward to the training the district is sending me to, as I get to kill two birds with one stone. The training is in Tulsa, OK. In other words, I am being paid to go visit my family. This will be the first time I've returned to the state since Grandpa's death back in 2002 -the family usually travels up here to Liberal. My mom's cat had kittens recently, so I think I may be able to bring one home at the end of the visit.
