After a couple of years fulfilling a U.S. Government housing contract, BOXABL is now ready to build and distribute pre-fab houses to customers on a very long waiting list. Only time will tell if this makes a dent in a nationwide housing shortage, or becomes another fad that quickly passes.

Remember when cargo container houses were going to be the affordable housing everywhere? Just sayin'.

Prefab housing like this has been produced throughout the last 120 years.

If it were really such a fantastic solution we'd have whole cities built out of containers such as those by now.

Of course they keep 'reinventing' them. Building codes keep changing, materials available keep changing, and lifestyles/needs keep changing. As does population growth and space available.

The Wikipedia page said Sears stopped selling their kits in the 1940s. Not likely a spec of insulation in those ageing houses, and yet, a lot of them are still in use as people still buy them with much enthusiasm.

Not many modern day people want to try to keep a dusty old relic held together.

And what does that matter, anyway? There were only 1 billion people on the planet 200 years ago. I doubt there are enough of their 200yo houses still around to house the 8 billion people we have today.
