The Birdcage

We watched this movie in a current issues class I took my senior year in high school because were talking about gay issues that week. It was hardly an accurate representation of gay lifestyle. It was stereotypical, offensive, and just a bad movie in general.

To Wong Fo (Thanks for everything Julie Newmar) Wesley Snipes needs to be happy he was born a man, because he would have been an ugly ass woman.

I brought Threesome the other day. I saw it when I was coming out yadda yadda and I thought it was sweet. When I watch it again I will probably hate it.

I also hated The Birdcage.

I thought Brokeback Mountain was boring and I didn't relate to it at all.

Bedrooms and Hallways

See above, change "Dumpy, chubby and obnoxious" to "stick-like, whiney and obnoxious Madonna".

Oh, and there's lots of gay baiting, negative stereotypes and Madonna taking the moral high ground over custody of her child.... And SHE was the one celebrated the death of a friend from "AIDS" by getting drunk and having unprotected sex with a gay man.

wow... i really hope you dont believe everything you hear/read about celebs.

that's what the character does in the movie. :slap:

that's the whole PREMISE of the movie. they come home from a friend's funeral and get drunk and have sex (as so often happens with gay men#-o )

oh..... awkward. LOL. havent seen the movie so i apologize for that.

but yeah i heard that movie was shit and one of the many Horrible movies that played off stereotypes. horrid. and i agree with what you said about the Birdcage. i feel embarassed just watching that movie.

heehee.

yeah, I should have made that more clear.

no need to appologize at all.

Just come and rub my back and we'll call it even.

I'm sorry....

I liked De-Lovely (mainly for the rendition of Blow, Gabriel, Blow near the end there),

and In & Out (How can you not laugh at: "Think of Arnold Schwarzenegger! Arnold doesn't dance, he can barely walk!)

I also liked The Birdcage, true it was over the top and campy, but what isn't with Robin Williams or Nathan Lane? And their both very entertaining to watch.

I've yet to see a BAD gay movie...But I have seen a lot of bad ones in general...

Rollerball anyone?

Eating Out....Oh my god, that movie wasa horrible!! It was one long gay stereotype after another.

Brokeback.....I saw it in theater the first time...didn;t think it was too bad. Saw it again a few weeks ago, thought it was so boring.

My worst list:

Defying Gravity:

Boring plot, boring characters, boring dialoge

Boat Trip:
I just didnt really care for this one, wasnt funny at all..

you thought Hank Azaria was hot in that movie?

He wore high heels, walked like a Super Model on a runway and spoke like a female Mexian hooker in heat.

There isn't a single thing in that movie that isn't insulting to the gay community, and everyone involved in that attrocity should be lined up and shot.

The Jasunator Has Spoken.

I said looked hot, he's got a great body. And I thought his (Cuban, not Mexican) accent was cute.

I'm so over getting all hot and bothered when a movie has gay stereotypes in it. That's so 1985! I can even watch Will & Grace without throwing up.

La Cage aux Folles was campy fun, though probably in the guilty pleasure category. Not quite sure why the Mike Nichols version fell flat -- difference between a soufflé and a Denver omelet, maybe. Or between 1978 and 1996.

"Making Love" and "Boat Trip".

Making Love was the first film or tv show I recall seeing that had gay content. This was before I even knew I was gay or what gay was. I thought it was great. Granted, I haven't seen it since 1982...

not when he sounded like a teenage Jennifer Lopez.

Sorry.. just no way I could look at a man in high heels, wearing Daisy Dukes and carrying on like that and think anything but "Barf".

maybe I'm too touchy.. or maybe other gay men aren't touchy enough.

but that movie had every single negative gay stereotype aside from a child molesting axe murderer and not a single positive one. And I felt it was almost an attack on the gay community.

The message I left with was "you fags are fine to laugh at (not with - none of those characters were laughing), but in the end, you're just for our entertainment, and you humiliate your normal family members. The extreme right is correct to think you're a bunch of degenerates and you should hide from them, turn your world upside down to please them and go out of your way to help them continue to look down on you".

I never saw the original. Glad I didn't.

Too Woo Fong, Love Julie Newmar! That movie sucked and blowed.... I walked out. If there is any justice anyone in that movie has been blacklisted for life!:grrr:

I might be in the minority, but I thought Trick sucked ass. And that song the main guy kept singing, "Enter You", is about the gayest song I've ever heard - my ears were bleeding by the third time.

The song was supposed to be annoying. That was the point. The guy was the loveable geek.

If every you get the chance to see this French film then avoid it like the plague.

"Poltergay" Five disco queens are killed in a night club explosion and find themselves eternally trapped in the place. After the purchase of the property by a, naturally hunky, straight guy we are are obliged to watch a series of painfull jokes and stupid situations.

Apart from the stereotyping, which doesn't necessarily offend me, it actually was the worst film I have ever seen in my life and this is on general release.

I might be in the minority, but I thought Trick sucked ass. The Italian stripper guy was hot ("Mark" I think), but overall, the movie was stupid. And that song the main guy kept singing, "Enter You", is about the gayest song I've ever heard - my ears were bleeding by the third time. Tori Spelling was the epitome of the "annoying fag hag that just wouldn't go the fuck away" LOL

I disliked it too, but mostly because I kept anticipating a really hot sex scene that never really materialized. Cock teasers!
