"How Bernie Sanders Lost Me... And Hillary Clinton Won Me Over"

pragmatism is code for defeatism

exactly. too many DC democrats like Hillary are running for whatever they can get. Bernie isn't going to compromise with a watered-down agenda, and Americans don't deserve a watered-down candidate.

Don't talk about "us" as if we're not here. It's condescending.

I'm finding that Bernie's surge has more to do with psychological effects, for example speaking to the forum as if you presume you are in the majority and everyone else is a square. The tone of your post -generally rude- says it all, and I'm also seeing this form of groupthink on Facebook.

Anyway were not smarter just more practical. Plenty of people see it our way, otherwise I would vote for him myself.

You are being condescending in this very post, as well have other people about Bernie supporters. Not just here but on the rest of the net too. Being "uninformed" "lazy" "doesn't know any better" and going to lengths such as sexism.

It's becoming tiresome and might have to take a vacation.

The "smarter than the rest of us" Hillary supporters can't help themselves

And they don't have the ability to change anyone's minds

clearly

Given that I remember you as being a die hard Republican in 2008 and 2012....your support for Bernie is, for me, totally suspect.

I doubt if you actually are thinking of voting for him either.

I hear a lot of 'independent undecided' shills touting Bernie over Hillary because they believe that that the Republican party will be able to destroy him in the real battle for president while Hillary has been tested and re-tested and re-tested again.

Some sites have more than one of them......

Pitting people against each other and sitting back laughing about it.....

Ahhhh..the things we miss in the heat of the moment....

One who deceives will always find those who allow themselves to be deceived.

Absolutely. It has been a staple now in every election cycle...and once you are familiar with the dynamics...easy to spot...

If her name weren't Hillary Rodham CLINTON, she'd never be where she is... well, at least not a perspective nominee to the White House. She chose to tie her future with being connected, er, married, to Bill Clinton... now her friends Gloria Steinem and Madeleine Albright feminist shame women who support Bernie Sanders as having a "special place in hell". Well, Madeleine did seem to say they went overboard on that one, but still... Hillary Clinton is no great statesperson. She may be the best of all the candidates to be President, but in the end that just shows how bankrupt we are as a country when the GOP is going full speed into the crapper and the only other serious candidate we have is a Democratic Socialist with a lot of personal honor and character but because of the boogeyman connotation of ANY form of socialism here, an incredibly tough road to get the nomination. To win... and for goodness sakes get anything done with a Congress where Republicans still will likely control at least the House.

Hillary will never "win" me over... she's hardworking, intelligent and capable for certain, showing a lot as Senator from New York.. yet so is Chuck Schumer and I highly doubt most here would be trying to rationalize supporting him should he have been in the race instead of her. Trustworthy she's not, and visionary, she's not. She is completely "settle for" material. Better than the GOP garbage truck but only through grading on a curve. Sad that we have to at best settle, but if reality strongly infers Bernie isn't a feasible choice reality also requires that we see Hillary as what she is and how truly limited our choices really are.

thanks - I thought the same thing

Your "doubt" is of little consequence

And your memory and categorization of points of view is ........... to use your word "suspect"

As for Hillary supporters and their noses in the air ............. get over it and strap in for a battle

I'd bring more than "we cant do it" to the fight though

Yeah...OK...whatever you say....

actually just check the polls - real clear politics - easily found unless you don't want to

and read some stuff - what experts and observers are saying

you can find that on TV or the web or other places

if you want to find it

or you can do what you're doing

which reminds me of "the definition of insanity"

Whatever.

I remember the trajectory from the previous elections....playing coy about maybe the Dem candidates might have something to offer and then talking up the Republican front-runner as time went on.....

But hey, if you are now for Bernie or Hillary and believe the Dems need to win this election to save the US from a Trump/Cruz/Rubio clusterfuck....then I'm right there with you.

It is not a blanket statement, but the fact remains that those using such tactics are probably also victims. Our limbic system makes us think in groups. We can't help it.

Re: "How Bernie Sanders Lost Me... And Hillary Clinton Won Me Over"

that is the definition of defeatism and Clinton is the defeatist candidate.

It's not defeatism, it's realism and actual knowledge of history and the political process. Something many Bernie supporters don't have. Pointing out that the Presidency isn't where revolution STARTS is not defeatism, it's KNOWING HOW THINGS ARE DONE IN ORDER TO ACTUALLY ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS.

Where have I seen this type of disdain for "smart" people? Hmmmm, wait, it's gonna come to me...

No, he's gonna go all or nothing. And get nothing.
I guess then if Hillary isn't the nominee, you'll go PUMA and sit home. And guess what? Enough people do that, say hello to a repuke president and loss of SCOTUS for 40yrs. Today's Hillary supporters are WORSE that Obama supporters in '08.

So keep tearing down each others' candidates while the repukes take it to the bank.

Well, actually, I'll sit home regardless, because I am still a couple of years away from full citizenship and am not allowed to vote. However no, being pragmatic and actually aware of how politics work in America, I would have absolutely gone and voted for Bernie if I had the ability to vote and he were the nominee.

I get the sense that Hillary's supporters are more likely to vote for a Democrat no matter what, while Bernie's supporters may just stay home.

Absolutely, the cultist mentality doesn't really exist in the Hillary support base, and honestly, I haven't seen a single "Hillary or bust" post on my facebook feed, just stories of "friends of friends" about such....

Ted and Marco are crazy - many of the original dozen were. They cannot be in charge under any circumstances

Kasich is a good man and IMO would do a reasonable job as President but he won't get the nom

Romney prob would've been a decent President but he was a rotten candidate and if you can't figure that part out it's likely not gonna get easier

Bernie authentically wants to help those who have far too little - and IMO the most important thing that he is doing is putting special interests front and center - they're running our political process and it's deep - the DNC (and the RNC) are two examples

Wall St. is the stalking horse

that single issue alone fixed would cure many ills

LOL it's not really smart - it's just faux smart

and i doubt it'll come if you missed the point initially
