"How Bernie Sanders Lost Me... And Hillary Clinton Won Me Over"

I get the sense that Hillary's supporters are more likely to vote for a Democrat no matter what, while Bernie's supporters may just stay home.

My first vote was in 2006, I was so excited!!! I went as soon as the polls opened, a muggy September morning, the lawn soaked with dew, and I was the only young man in the line. Cardin barely eeked out a win, and then went on to be senator. I've never voted for a loser since, and Hillary Clinton actually won the popular vote in the 2008 primaries.

^^^In 1984..I couldn't vote for Mondale ..and I promised myself just a few days ago that I would not go off on Reagan again so I will not elaborate....

...and I cast my vote for the Communist Party since I admire Angela Davis ...

It wasn't really a vote of conscience though..I just was so disgusted with Reagan and I correctly predicted the 1% we have now back then because of him (DAMN..I already blew it)..and I knew how many people don't even bother to vote..and I knew Mondale has zero chance in hell..and there was Angela and Gus just waiting for a vote..and I gave it to them...

....

1st vote cast was for Dukakis (1988). Got to see Poppy Bush speak when he did a rally here (summer of '88 and yes, my ex and I actually went to see him). Never voted earlier because there was a lot of stuff going on in my life and I never registered to vote until '88.

Absolutely, the cultist mentality doesn't really exist in the Hillary support base, and honestly, I haven't seen a single "Hillary or bust" post on my facebook feed, just stories of "friends of friends" about such....

I mean we can keep making blanket statements, condescending remarks and insults about the supporters of a candidate but when that is the most weight you are carrying in your posts, it means nothing. As for the "friends of friends" comment, claims that Bernie supporters are sexist or lazy or uninformed has been hearsay as well, you are doing the exact same thing.

Seriously I have seen just as much mud slinging on here from the people who support Hillary just as much as members who don't. When you try to play it down otherwise your posts increasingly lose credibility.

Again pretending that a "cultist" mentality doesn't exist on Hillarys side is being disingenuous.

The irony of the matter is Hillary doesn't make me dislike her as much as her supporters do.

Certainly there is a demographic that is her base - people just like her.

Generally young liberal men aren't Hillary supporters, and my friends certainly aren't.

Same. I find this attempt to equate the two "camps" laughably naive and deliberately obtuse. Yes, of course younger, more passionate people are disproportionately for Bernie, and also yes, of course a lot more young passionate people aren't as well informed on history and politics, OR as interested in them. Also of course the younger one is, the more prone to seeing the world in black and white extreme terms. Why should we even have to make a case that the Hillary support base tends to be more rational than the Bernie one? That doesn't even mean it's smarter or more "right".

well I guess the Tea Party members are brilliant

young = dumb
old = smart

you're just full of ..........

generalities

which is not the basis for worthwhile dialogue

Generalities? Sure. But not blanket statements. I did not say "Every young person", I said "more". Which is a statistically proven fact. If you have a problem with that, go educate young disenfranchised people and make it wrong. I'll applaud you and the country will be better for it.

Here's my problem.

With what I highlighted above, this is exactly what you are saying. So sorry, you don't get to claim this.

You claim that these people are more prone to black and white extremes yet your whole basis is based off of generalities. Again though, keep up the condescending bullshit to hold the weight of your posts because nothing else is.

So far..around Silicon Valley and even Santa Cruz and Monterey...I have only seen Hillary Bumper Stickers...and Trump Bumper Stickers..no others..and alot of each...

My friends either Like Hillary or Trump....the ones in my 3-D life..but online friends....it is different. I haven't heard one of the Hillary supporters I know in my 3-D life say anything bad about Bernie personally. We all like him and we all will vote for him if he is the Democrat nominee. Their opinion is pretty much the same as mine..great guy...no chance in hell of him bringing all of the Democrats to the table of political suicide....much less the Republicans.....

My friends who like Trump..all of them want Bernie to run....every one of them...

Truthful, and accurate.

the arbiter or all ;)

actually President Obama hasn't shown much enthusiasm for the "game" - making the case, etc.

He's better (much) in a room of like minded and hasn't really the patience for engaging and selling

Much has been written about this aspect of his personality

Bernie on the other hand enjoys making the case - see his Liberty University trip as an example and speaking to religious folks about his ideas and ways to look at them

so tired of the Hillary supporter refrain and now mass media suggestion that nothing can get done - if others couldn't how could Bernie ?

who exactly has tried ? President Obama who can't be bothered ? who would rather not ?

who else ?

the world is changing it has changed

it's not just ideas that are important but how they're presented

No way, American primaries are a unique spectacle. It's getting so hot on Facebook I have run out of popcorn.

^^ The 99% getting shafted again.

The 99% allows itself to get shafted. We aren't so lost yet that people are unable to balance the system, the problem is the amount of greedy, selfish, compassion-less douche-bags who'd rather have assault rifles than edumacation.
