Hi, guys, i have two round dark brown patches on my butt...basically, the two areas are where my butt touch the chair when i sit...i figured it might be because the pressure and made the color darker than the rest of my butt. They're very obvious and have been there for years. Is there anything i can do to get rid of them? any creams or something i can apply?

Thank you in advance!

I sit and don't have any discolorations, so your explanation about sitting can't be enough. There must be something going on with you to make you more susceptible than others.

What are we talking about here? A concentration of pigments like a giant freckle? There are creams that will bleach the skin, but I would be wary of using them and if it's a strong discoloration then I don't think the result is going to be much better than just leaving it alone and it might even be worse, like damaging the quality of the skin.

A dermatologist would give you a better picture.

I'm a little puzzled as to what the discoloration is. It's common to see areas of pigmentation in skin folds in the groin and the anal cleft but not on the buttocks.

We do allow images in this forum if the issue is health-related, if you care to post one.

SO....I attached two pics...lol...phew...it was not easy to take pics in that position lol...

so i think they are more obvious than the pictures show...

what do you guys think?

Interesting. What is odd is that these areas aren't the typical pressure points over the lower pelvis.

I can't tell how much pigment the rest of your skin has- are you olive skinned or mediterranean/latino?

Do these areas appear anywhere else on your body? And do they extend forward into the skin folds around your groin?

looks like bruises one might get from long horse back rides whilst sitting/gripping a too small saddle over rough terrain or possibly a long term friend with a paddle fetish.

if you are doing the horse back riding thing, try sitting behind not on the saddle horn :D:p;)

It looks like shadows to me. Don't worry about it, you have a cute ass.

If it is really troubling you go see the doctor. If they can see it in person it will be easier for them to tell what it is.

The pictures help, even if their not that crisp... it looks more like chafing than a pigmentation thing...

how would you characterize the quality of the skin compared to what's around it. Is it dryer? Is there any flaking? Is it itchy? Does it seem irritated? In the absence of any other idea, you might try an anti-bacterial/anti-fungal cream.

Thanks guys! I figured out there might be some cause...like years years ago, i had some skin disorder in those two areas, and had a minor surgery to fix it...(i remember it was some skin irritation, maybe similar to acne stuff? i can't remember now...i was young then). But that was many years ago, and i may or may not get those dark things since then, but i just didn't notice (i guess i'm just getting gayer than before lol). And since i began to pay attention to it like 6 or 7 months ago, they stayed the same, didn't get larger, didn't get darker...and the skin in those two areas does feel dries and rougher than the rest...and other than that, no other abnormal stuff like itch, redness....

I checked online and i'm looking two products: skin lightening by Proactiv and Bio Oil....i'm not sure if i can use them...any suggestions?

Thanks!

I think where both 3nipples and I are going is something called intertrigo. It's a infection that affects skin- typically in moister areas such as the folds in the groin, the underarms, the buttocks, etc.

You should see a dermatologist. You will probably need either an antibacterial or antifungal cream to clear it up. After that, a lightening cream can be used to depigment the skin.

Hi pianoxford...

From your handle I'm guessing you are a pianist? I am an amateur and do pretty long practice sessions. I have the same patches as well, and I think the pressure of sitting on a wooden bench for extended periods on a regular basis is definitely a contributor to the problem. It does not itch or hurt, but it's a bit unsightly and maybe scares people I hook up with a little.

I can't give up piano, so what I've been trying to do lately is to take more frequent practice breaks and walk around to improve blood circulation. I asked a nurse about it, it didn't seem like a big deal at all to her. I might ask my doctor on my next checkup, I really would like them to go away too.

BTW you might want to look up info about
Pressure sores (general problem)
Fiddler's neck (similar problem for violinists)

Hi akeira and welcome to posting. I wouldn't have thought of that, but it sounds pretty good as a possible cause... but aren't cushions an option for you or do you play better with a bit of pain?

hey akeira and 3 nipples! thanks for your posts. Yes, i'm a pianist, and akeira, i agree with you about the pressure thing...but i think since it has been there for years, it might not be easy to get rid of them just by increasing the blood circulation for me. Did you see any improvement since you started your exercise?

I want to try some skin lightening lotion soon and see if it helps...
