  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

how clean is your house?

My dream guy would be someone who stayed at home--a house husband if you will. I don't want children so there'd be no baby raising duties, but it would be so nice to have someone to run all the errands, to pick up my dry cleaning, to write thank you cards and Christmas cards, to go get our food, to clean the house, to keep up w/ the car maintenance, to take care of the dog, to do the laundry, etc. I just can't convince Jas to quit his job though. :D

Where do I send my resume? :p

My house is pristine... of course I have someone to come everyday and clean it ;)

See, that's our problem! We have someone who mows the yard, does lawn maintenance type things. We have someone who walks our dog and takes her to the vet and to the park. We have someone who washes our cars. We use the laundry company that picks up our laundry and drops them back off all folded. What we don't have is someone to clean our house! I'm telling ya, people look at the mess and run. I think they're a bit afraid that the mess has done actual damage to our home and they are afraid of getting blamed for it. Can we borrow your housekeeper for a bit?

I really do hate relying on other people to take care of my chores. I feel bad for not completing those tasks myself--especially the dog walking part. There's just no time though and I make more money if I continue working (well, and I'm a workaholic). In the long run it's just more economical to hire someone else to do it.

Alpha, fly me over to the US for a holiday and I'll have your house sparkly clean in a couple of days. Of course I will require a signed statutory declaration that you will fly me over to the US twice a year for the rest of my life to come and clean the house and have a wee holiday.

It's so HOT when guys use legalese!

Where are the other "dirty" JUBBERS at? Come one, you're mostly all guys, no way is everyone keeping their homes, dorms, and apts, in spic and span condition.

I saw a few episodes of that show. Could never understand how people could live in a house like that.

My house is pretty clean. Did it all yesterday when I got home from work.

i use my loft to see clients sometimes, so it's always immaculate. plus i just like being in a very clean environment.

My housekeeper is my longest relationship : )

I have been with her for almost 20 years, she's been through a marriage, coming out and living with my partner for 11 years (my second longest).

She comes once a week, does the laundry, puts away the lube and poppers.

One of my goals has always been to have someone do laundry and do the cleaning - it's a dream life!

I like my home space clean and organized as my work area isn't.

If you saw my office, then you would think, What does his home look like? Just the opposite.

But, don't you dare touch my office, I know where everything is. Folders, papers, boxes of equipment, software, all over the place.

Ah, now I'm just the opposite. My home is a total disaster area, but my office is neat and organized. There's not a crt document, research article, book, file, paper, notebook, or pen out of place. I keep my furniture dusted (the cleaning people don't do as good of a job in my opinion) and I never leave a mess behind. My professional life is very put together, my personal life on the other hand, never fairs as well.

Oh, and I will kill anyone who touches my office. Paralegals, secretaries, and fellow attys beware--do not move my stuff.

Very clean! I don't have the time to be messy. I am totally organized in my life - my family and friends call me "Mr Martha Steward". BTW - my Christmas decorations are up and the celebrating has begun!!

Good god it is a never ending battle. I have always said I should take a week off from life to clean the place into museum perfectness yet how boring would that be?

No I say if you dont have critters living off of you (other than the ones you buy food at the store for) then your clean enough for existence.

Dream guy?? Sounds like you need a gay guy!

Seriously, I could use a guy like that, too! Shannon won't quit his job either! :grrr: Let me know what works with Jas and I'll try it on this end, too!

(I can't complain... my other half goes the extra mile to keep me happy and comfortable. I do the same. All in all, it works for us!)

Back to Topic:

Our house has that 'lived in' look, but you could eat off the floors if you wanted to. We both like to clean, so needless to say, things might have a slight clutter here and there, but our home is almost always "Show Home Ready" within 10 minutes!

Pretty decent for four twenty-something males. Two weeks ago, however, was a completely different story.

How many of you have seen this tv show? If you haven't go to youtube and type in (how clean is your house) You can see clips of it. I went to a co- workers house a few days ago and it was as bad as those clips. I lost all respect for him and will never return to his home. How fucking pathetic. I could have puked:help:

Perhaps you could do some reading on hoarding on the internet. He may be stuck in a shame spiral, not knowing that it's actually a form of OCD and can be quite debilitating. Most of those "Clean up" shows don't do much for the inhabitants, because it's more than just a person being lazy--I would bet that many of them will have similar circumstances given enough time to let their houses go again. Severe hoarding cases apparently respond best to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and anti-anxiety medications.

Cleaning it up can be difficult but freeing--and seeing it get back to the same way it was before can be absolutely crushing, and leave one feeling hopeless and terribly depressed to come into the one place where everyone should feel most secure.

Don't go back--but maybe you could save a little respect for him in a place that is not sitting in judgment of how he lives. I would wager it's much more depressing for him than it is for you.
