One of the few classes I looked forward to besides math. It was a great opportunity to show off my athletic skills.

Back in your youth, would you have been nice / accepting of a kid like me with no abilities and chubby in gym class?

I was lucky, because I'd made it on to the swim team I got sent to do laps in the pool all the time.

Loved phys ed. It was a chance to show off and be with other guys who also liked to show off their athletic skills and newly muscled-up bodies. Preferred skins to shirts for the same reason. Happy to strip down in the locker room and shower with other guys.

During swimming season, the team was excused from gym but I participated anyway, which earned me points with the coach, who was also the football coach and who professed to hate the swimmers and tennis players.

Interesting to see that I'm not the only one who was non-athletic, but liked seeing nudity in the locker room. Too bad PE couldn't have just been 55 minutes of a chance to view locker room nudity, with none of that tiresome running around a track, playing football, playing basketball, etc.

I remember the trauma of Seventh grade gym. We kids were fitted into skimpy gray cotton shorts and t-shirts, ran endless laps in the school gym, did pushups and sit ups, and in good weather ran outside. Then we were herded into the locker room and showers, a large room with shower heads on all four walls. There was no hiding, everyone was naked and everyone had to shower. It was like the swimming pool showers but instead of just summer this was all school year. I had reached puberty by Fourth grade and had a full crop of black pubes, plus leg and underarm hair. Literally only five of us had reached puberty and we kind of identified together. No kid on my street had body hair or pubes but they all wanted to get a good look at me naked. So the pointing and teasing by our pre-pubescent hairless fellow students started all over again. A dark-haired Italian kid named Tony tried to hide but once he was naked I heard all the whooping from his side of the locker room. Our gym teacher, a Mr. McKernan, watched and grinned as we naked boys headed in and out of the showers, looking for any bad behavior, or maybe just enjoying the sight of naked boys a little too much. He watched for pushing, wet towel-slapping, and something we called “goosing” (grabbing someone's balls and squeezing hard), and once made us all stand and watch as he spanked a boy laid across his knees.

When I was in Eighth grade, our locker room was next to the Seventh grade lockers and showers. I noticed two friends who had just started growing pubes. Just a little hair on each side of their penises. But the two locker rooms and showers were separate so we did not mix. My guess, if I had asked them, they would be aware they were developing and would soon look like us Eighth graders. But to be completely hairless around us would be real trauma.

I disliked Physical Education classes. I was not good at sports; and I didn;t really know how to be a team member. Junior High was particularly tough; I was targeted by homophobic bullies. Later in High School I started to enjoy engaging in soccer games with my quieter class mates. I wish I had known what I know now. In that case, I might have tried out for wrestling or maybe even the football team.

I hated it, though I was good at track and field. I certainly was not out, but suspected. I was also physically mature for my age, which did not help with bullies who had hardly started to sprout cock hair.

I was bullied all during grade school. This one bully in our neighborhood, a tough muscular kid, a year older than me, would push, hit, kick and slap us younger kids regularly. He heard I was in puberty and that I had a full crop of black pubic hair and he tried everything to see me naked. Tried to get me into a strip-dice game he organized in the woods, I agreed to one roll, it was not a six, and left; and he chased me for a block and a half and finally gave up. Now I'm in 7th grade gym class and in the locker room, but the 8th graders have come in from working all day on a truck collecting scrap paper, and we were told, let them use the showers. So there he is, heavy and stocky, naked, walking by me, he had a tiny cock and absolutely no pubic hair.
