  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

How did you find your current job?

I was on an interview for one job when the interviewer asked me what I was doing there, I was over qualified. He referred me to some one else and I have just finished my second season working for that other person. Funny the way things work out sometimes.

I worked hard as a substitute teacher for several years before one principal took notice and decided I was the right guy to hire.

I graduated from college at a time when there were few teaching jobs out there.

I walked in and asked for a job. It just so happens that the person I asked was the hiring manager, who I ended having a conversation with. A few days later I had an interview with him. He told me I looked the part and he liked my personality and I got the job. And now I'm a professional hipster.

I've got two jobs.

One I got simply by going in and asking. They had me fill out a rather specialized application, they liked what they saw, and hired me the next day.

The other I got via phone. I had sent out feelers to a bunch of different places. It looked like I was going to get hired in Boise ID (of all places), but that fell through. Then I ended up getting offers from three places all on the same day...and all of them in Colorado. I went to visit all three, picked which one I liked best (the one that paid the least, as it turns out), and I'm still there fifteen years later.

I led a very wicked life, and this is my punishment.

Seriously, I just applied to a few different grad programs, and this was the only one that could offer me funding.

University careers fair followed by checking the relevant website and applying through that - on the last day that the applications were open.
