I'm running Vista. Every other moment the pop -up warnig annouces that it can't do a back up due to low disc space (disc is filled to the brim). I don't care about doing a back up, ever. I disabled automatic back up under Chagne Settings, but I still get the warning. It also says "Automatic back up is disabled." So short of deleting a lot of disc space, how do I get rid of this warning (I'll be reading a page and I have to scroll away from the warning or click it off...very annoying)?

You could copy some files to DVDs - if you fill just one DVD, then you'll free up around 4GB of space.

If your disc is full to capacity then the message will continue to appear until some space is free cos you need free space for the computer to run properly. I get the same warning when my free space is below 500MB. It disappears when I free up some space though.

You don't have to delete lots of files, just a gig or so will stop the message. And like I said, if you copy the files to DVD, you won't actually have to delete anything ..|

So I just need to delete a bit of my precious porn, then? (!)
You know, come to think about it, my computer IS running a bit whacky (starting problems), so this may cure that too.
I have 4.78 G free though on C and 5.9 MB on D (Recovery).

What IS in Recovery? Is it used as overflow when C gets full?

It's used to restore your puter to the settings/status of when you first bought it.

Burn some of your porn to a dvd for proper storage, it is really not necessary to have it all on your hardrive. You need to free some space on your disk for your computer to run properly. Just think of all the new porn you can get if you clean and properly archive your non essential files.

In this day, I am surprised you dont have an external harddrive. Nearly anyone with a PC has one (I have 4). You can buy portal externals that hold about 500GB for about 80 bucks. You can buy powered ones (meaning ones you plug into an outlet) also.

Here is a method for Vista (use "Method 2") for disabling low space warnings (or here). I'm not sure how savvy you are; it involves some registry key work, so only proceed if you know what you're doing and are comfortable there - and it's always recommended "best practice" to have a current backup before embarking on any Regedit work. Also, these are the general low space warnings, I'm not sure if it'll also remove your particular message about can't do backup due to low space - may be a different one.

But I'd agree with the others here that clobbering the warning message maybe isn't the best way to deal with the annoyance. You can get a cheap external drive or even add another internal drive as a secondary letter and free more space on your primary OS drive - things might theoretically run better anyway with a little more room to breathe (swap file).

You could also disable all tray "balloon tips" by following these instructions, but I might not recommend that in case you get other types of warnings or critical informational messages via that way.

Thank you trinket! I wish I could hug you (especially if that's you in your avatar *sigh*).
