How do stop my autocomplete data from being deleted?

I am using Firefox (FF). While trying to make it run more efficiently, I ended up accidently un-checking a box that used to save my autocomplete data when I shutdown my system. Once I open FF, I now have to re-enter my autocomplete data again manually and it stays active as long as I don’t shutdown my system. Yet once I shut my system down, then all of the autocomplete data is deleted.

So what is the box that I need to check, in order to save my autocomplete data once again?

While I am at it, for several years, I use to have autocomplete on my Internet Explorer (IE), yet when I got a MS update several months ago, I noticed that I no longer had autocomplete or maybe one of the updates made the program inactive. Yet since I rarely use IE, I didn’t bother trying to see if I could get the feature back. So I was wondering if IE still has autocomplete? If so, can you tell me where to find it and how to turn it on?

Thank you. ..|

Thank you very, very much Kevin23. Done! That was easy. Thanks so very much for your help.

Maybe someone else will come along shortly and give me a hand with FF.

You are welcome.

Was going to send you a private message, but it says: not allowed.

I found this on the web:

In Firefox 1.0.7, go tools->options, and select "privacy" from the left-hand side. From there, click the plus sign next to "saved form information" to expand it, then check the box next to "save information I enter in web page forms and the search bar" and OK your way out.

In Firefox 1.5, the layout of options has been changed a little bit. This time, select "privacy" from the top bar, click the "saved forms" tab, check the box next to "save information I enter in web page forms and the search bar" and OK your way out.

Thank you so very, very much once again Keven23! ..| Since I am not very computer literate, I have no idea what version of FF I have. But I was able to search in the “privacy” option and I was able to check and also uncheck 2 separate options regarding the “search and form history”, because with them being checked and unchecked, that gives the command to “not remember” and to “clear” search and form history. So I am hoping that this will do the trick. ;)

Thanks a MILLION, Keven23!!! I so greatly appreciate you taking the time to find the answer for me. You are wonderful!:=D::=D::=D:
