A. (Most important rule) Never use cleaning supplies on your LCD Monitor.

B. (Second most important rule) NEVER clean your LCD monitor when it is ON.

C. Only use water to clean your LCD monitor. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the surface of your LCD monitor (only when it is OFF). Then, use another soft, dry cloth to dry it.

D. Don't scrub the surface of the LCD screen. Gently wipe the surface, if there is a particular spot that won't come off, try using warm water and rub the area in a circular motion repeatedly.

NEVER EVER use windex or any other cleaning chemicals on your LCD Screen.

I buy LCD wipes at Office Depot. They seem to work just fine.

My Philips came with a cleaning cloth.

Hadn't heard about the backlight. And to think I turned down plasma because the gas needed to be refilled . . . now I hear the newer models aren't like that, but then again, they are too new to tell yet!

Steel wool.

Then hit the stubborn spots with a good powdered silica cleanser.

I use some prepacked wipes I bought from newegg. one packet has the dry wipe the other has the wet wipe.

A damp J cloth works fine. If your water is raunchy use distilled water. Then dry it off. Why spend money?

No no no. Internet rumor - plasma tv's do NOT need to be "refilled". The reason you turn down the picture on a plasma AND an LCD, LCOS, etc is that they are configured out of the box to work in the store out with maximum brightness, etc in order to figure against the harsh fluorescent lighting, etc. This is typically not appropriate for your home and should be adjusted giving you a better picture (better black levels, etc).
