How do you kill a shark with a grenade?

I am watching the movie Jaws 3 and a man in it wants to take a grenade with him underwater to kill the shark but a young Dennis Quaid stops him from doing it. How on earth would you even be able to do that?! Throw it in it’s mouth?! That’s not an easy task. Anyway just wondering. Every time I watch this movie I think just how he was going to do that.

I expect he intended to tickle the shark under the chin and, when it opened its mouth to smile in pleasure, he would just pop the grenade in.

A bit like giving meds to a puppy.

I suppose that the shock waves would kill it if it was close enough, but getting a grenade close to a moving body in water would be a difficult task. Just my thoughts on this.

Unless it was a suicide mission, it was akin to spitting in the wind.

The concussion of an explosion in close proximity would have been a double threat. Not only would the metal shrapnel have pierced the shark's body, but also the diver's unless he had gotten far enough away after delivering the grenade, which would be nigh impossible.

And the blast would have likely burst eardrums and perhaps damage internal organs of the diver, like his brain.

I never saw Jaws 3; the first one was fantastic enough.

Dunno never saw it. But I totally get you like Christmas Vacation Clark makes a hole in the attic floor bedroom ceiling he already needs to fix it why not crawl through it? Another thing about that one Clark's parents take Audrey's room and Ellen's parents take Rusty's room, for some reason Rusty has bunk beds why didn't he and Audrey take his room and the grandparents take the pull out and Audrey's room? Eeh probably for the same reason Fred Flintstone didn't crawl into the window after the cat locked him out further more whose cat was that?!
