While I am eating out at a nice restaurant I like to order a steak dinner. When a hot waiter ask me how I like my steak cooked I give him a look and a smile and say "well-done." ;) I like some brown juice dripping off from my beef. Haha.

How do you like your beef? Rare, Medium rare, Well done?

If it's great cut of steak, I'll order it rare, I dearly love it that way.

Most of the time it will arrive closer to 'medium rare', but that's fine, too.

You forgot "medium well", so I couldn't vote.

But at least you know my response.

I like it more on the rare side but it has to be cooked all the way through. When it's so rare the middle is still raw -- I can't do that.

I use to like my steaks medium (warm pink center), but as time went on I had a craving for more flavor in my steak. So, I now get my steaks medium rare. The less it's cooked, the more flavor it has. Plus, steaks continue to cook after you take them off the grill. So, by the time you are half finished eating it, the medium steak has become well done.

What happened not only to medium well, but medium as well?

Those were the only two categories I would have voted on; over the years my preferences have slowly moved from well done to almost medium.

So sometimes I'll go medium, sometimes I'll go medium well.

Rare. They usually over-cook it anyways at the places I eat. So when I order it rare, I usually get about medium-rare.

Can't handle it rare. If I see blood on the plate, it will shortly be joined by another bodily expulsion.

To me, a good steak has to be served medium rare. I think you lose some of that great flavor when it's cooked any longer.

Steak needs to "cooked" rare no more...if you are going to have them burn the thing why bother at all?

No pink.

If there's pink I literally gag. and feel a regurgitation.

I have thrown up before from biting into a hamburger that my uncle thought was "done enough"

ICK!

Plus I am SUPER SUPER picky about my steaks and have NEVER had one that ranked higher than "mediocre" at best when i was out to eat. And this includes supposed "best of the best" steak houses. I'm a seasoning sort of person.

Obviously, you haven't been to Ruth's Chris Steak house! Have medium, rare steak there and you will have a foodgasm!
