What are all the things you do or have done to make money?

What was/is your best job?

Best job: the one I have now. :)

Most fun job: "running shags" (i.e. running errands around town, doing whatever needed doing) at a tourist attraction in the Colorado mountains.

Saddest job: Socializing a group of research Akita dogs. I got attached to them and was heartbroken when they were euthanized for the research.

I've done a lot of things for money. Most of it was legal, some of it wasn't..

My favorite job was driving a cab.You worked when you wanted to IF you wanted to and you could take a break any time you felt like it..

When it was busy if you kept the drivers door closed , stayed on the radio and worked your phone, you could easily make a couple hundred bucks for a 12 hours shift..

I've thought about driving cab again, but where I live now,it's more dangerous than Salt Lake and they want you to work 12 hour shifts m-f like a regular job.If I wanted a regular job and schedules,I wouldn't be driving a cab.

Selling records (yes, the stuff that you need PHONOGRAPHS/TURNTABLES for) by mail. That's all I've done since summer 1978.

The hours get totally nuts when preparing my annual offering, and processing it - the cycle will wind down within four weeks from right now. Very likely at least 75% of my income for the year will be in before 20 March.

I favor this job over my previous ones:
(1) stock boy for wholesale tobacco and candy orders (I'd stack a rolling float with dozens of cases of cigarettes and candy and it would be headed to the Food And Drug Mart, liquor stores, or similar places...)
(2) bagboy and carry-out at an A&P store
(3) helper for North American Van Lines (I hated that job! Also the only job I ever got fired from "for cause.")
(4) internal auditor [official title "cost accountant"] at a computer time-sharing company (people would lease computer time on this company's huge mainframe...which, at the time, filled a LARGE room!...and used punchcards, tape, etc.!)
(5) Government auditor, scrutinizing mostly line-by-line costs of MILITARY WEAPONS, but sometimes looking at procurement methods.

First three were my jobs during college and post-high-school years. #4 was in early 1970.

#5 was a job which I LOVE to say that I had for eight years, eight days, and eight hours. (YES, ENTIRELY TRUE - the "eight hours" is the ninth work day after finishing the eight full years...)

No contest, current Job #6 is my favorite of the bunch. Among other things, I have control over the "spigot" (I can choose to in effect shut the place down for long stretches of time), and that allows me to take long stretches off and do a lot of traveling, almost enough to consider it an annual sabbatical [spelling?].

People just decide to kill perfectly sane living beings just for research????

How fucking cruel is that????

As you can tell from my username just qualified as a doctor just over a year
ago , their were times when i did not think that i would make it to graduation
as i used to really lose it and cry my heart out when a patient that i had built a bond with would pass away .
Especially kids and for some reason really eldery patients i can remember one
very special lady who could remember sitting on her dads shoulders to watch
Queen victoria pass in her horse-drawn Lanyard .
I mean here was i a young sprog who thought he was something special
just sitting there listening to living history i was in awe .
Her name was daisy and she lost her husband in the 1st world war and never re-married as i said she was a very special lady . :(

I'm a scientist :) ...well by training...it's diffuclt working out of research because the corporate world is driven by sales and money.

I'm always impressed by and a bit envious of people who create their own small business or method of livelihood, where they have autonomy over the hours and amount of work they do, and independence/ freedom from managers etc. How did you get started?

What I do for a living would infect your soul, curve your spine and keep the country from winning the war.

Best job, surprisingly, Restroom Attendant.

The guys loved me and the money was incredible.

Worst job. Kennel boy.

Heavy lifting, smelly conditions, poor pay.

Currently, I am unemployed. So, if anyone knows of any leads, please forward them to me.

My favorite job in terms of income was when I worked as a commodity manager in the purchasing department for an automotive manufacturing company. I traveled nationally and internationally, met a lot of great people and tried a lot of great food. Love that German beer! I was very well paid too.

My favorite job in terms of enjoyment was real estate. I was self-employed, set my own schedule and made decent money when the market was good. Then the bankers on Wall Street got greedy and crashed the economy.

My worst job ever was for one day I worked on the back of a sanitation truck picking up garbage at residences in the July heat. We literally had to get off the truck, pick up the garbage cans by hand and empty them into the truck while fighting off crazy dogs barking and snapping at us!

Err used to work in the food service industry for close to two years. Now I work in a production factory like place. The pay is much better. Wouldn't call it a good job or a bad job. It pays the bills.

I sell stuff sometimes though to get money. Saving change really helps sometimes too :O
