Maybe it's because I'm a university student, but the last couple of years (and it seems this one too), I always feel so directionless during summer time. I don't get depressed, I just feel kind of lost. I'm wondering if this is a common thing for other college people. I work full time during the summer, but since I haven't graduated yet, I always just find random jobs to pass the time until school starts. Compared to when I'm in school and everything is so wonderful and critical and academic, it's like I get a taste of the dull average working life during summer. The years of Canadian winters must be getting to me: I think I actually prefer them by now. They're so deep and reflective, romantic, ah. Summer is just strange to me.

Et toi?

It's a cruel, cruel summer....

meh

I'm not a big fan of summer.

Friends go away on vacation with their families, the weather is brutal...

I just retreat to my pool.... It's a couple of months without...

But.

It's OK.

My favourite season is spring when everything is full of promise.

But I love those lazy summer days with the cicadas buzzing away and the garden in full flower.

Love it.

I can get out and walk or run from early in the morning till after 9 pm while it's still light outside.

I live for summer! Longer days, the beach, going swimming and body surfing... I always loose the little fat I gain in the winter months... There is that smell in the air from the pollen, etc. Doing projects, going for long drives up the coast.

Summer is good for me. I get depressed in the winter months.

I know exactly how you feel. I love summer weather ( I hate the cold) but I tend to get depressed during summers out of lack of anything to do. What makes it worst is that I cannot find a summer job! NOBODY is hiring in my area. It was like this last summer, when I was down to living off of my credit cards. Ironically my credit score is still pretty good. I also tend to question everything I have done academically and second guess EVERYTHING in the summer. AT LEAST YOU HAVE A JOB!

Living in a small town in east tennessee doesn't really help. NOTHING TO DO!

I love the summer. I used to get depressed in the winter when I lived in the northeast. Now I live in south Florida and we have summer 10 to 11 months a year. (!)

I hate wearing jackets and coats and it's a pleasure to be able to go outside in January just wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

I love summer, less clothing to wear, no shivering from the cold and I feel so relaxed during the summer season.

I love the summer i am more happier and more positive in the summer. And i love when its burning hot outside and you walk into a cool building i love the feeling.

Don't have to warm up the car for 15 mins or bundle up to get the mail i can go outside on my boxers etc.

Only thing that sucks is i don't have much friends or any friends at all i have nothing to do in the summer so it gets depressing. My only friend is too busy chasing after her ex boyfriend to hang out with me. Now i sound like DebbieDowner

I used to feel lonely during summer because that's when school let out and I was always cooped up in my house.

I got out a lot more now, but I generally feel like I have too much time on my hands. I just graduated high school, I'm looking for a job, and college doesn't start till August, so I'm kinda twiddling my thumbs ATM. Even when I'm with my friends, we all just sit around in a daze trying to find something to do. The hellheat doesn't help any.

Summer makes me lazy. I don't care for the heat or humidity. Love opening the window and then chilling in bed listening to music and staring outside. My favorite time of year to grab some smokes and throw my headphones on. Would be nice to share the experience with someone but the guys I seem to attract in this town are just way too old for me; I must find someone my age while I'm still young (ahh, but my hand keeps me sane through that issue; maybe that was meant to be)

Summer in Colorado is glorious. It's by far my favorite time of year.

The days are warm and sunny, nights are clear and cool. Skies are the most incredible blue you can imagine, and the strong high-altitude summer solstice sunlight brings detail not ordinarily seen into sharp relief.

The mountain wildflowers are in full bloom doing their thing, as fast as they can, for the growing season (8 weeks, tops) is incredibly short where they live above timberline, and I take every opportunity to get into the backcountry where I can see them before they fade.

Elephants head, monkshood, columbine, alpine asters and forget-me-nots, gentian, paintbrush ... and the elusive fairy slipper. I've yet to see a fairy slipper orchid in over 40 years of wildflower excursions. They're there, I know, but like perfect love, rarely experienced.

What always amazes me is the wildflowers would be putting on their fabulous show even if I wasn't there to look at them. It's a reminder that the world isn't all about humans. We're here for now, but just like the alpine summer, we're gone in the blink of an eye.
