A major myth is gay guys fashion sense is much much better than your "average" straight guy.

Let's put that myth to the test.

I voted below that of an average straight guy.

I care NOTHING about fashion and rarely shop for going out clothes.

When I do go out........I put very little thought into what I'm gonna wear......and just put on whatever clothes that's within easy reach on.

Is there any truth to this stereotype.?

I'm calling mythbusters!!!!!

The straight guys I hang out with dress better than I do. Except for this one straight guy but he's like really blind.

About the same. Jeans and a t-shirt or khakis and an oxford shirt.

I voted "mostly better," yes I'm the ONE at this point, and I'm rather embarrassed that some of the fashion queens around here didn't own this one thus far! !oops!

I know enough that you don't wear horizontal stripes with vertical striped parachute pants.

If your belt doesn't match your shoes, either buy a belt or pair of shoes that do, or don't wear one or the other. [-X

If you're going to wear a pair of jeans try them on AT THE STORE BEFORE you buy them, and make sure that they fit!

If they don't, take them back and get a pair that do, otherwise you look to cheap to actually care what your ass looks like INSIDE OF THEM, or afraid that you don't have enough junk in the front to FILL THEM.

Save yourself some money and buy some sweats instead. ..|

That's what real straight guys would do
. :p

Otherwise, show some pride in how you dress, or stay at home. :kiss:

Mostly better I think. For the most part I dress similarly to a well-dressed straight guy, probably with a little more color than some of them might. That said, I don't think well-dressed straight guys are all that unusual, at least not where I live (in fact most of the best dressed guys I know are straight).

i dress better than every straight guy i know.

but then i don't live in a big city, so that *definitely* has a lot to do with it.

All of my straight friends, of all ages, seem to pay far more attention to clothes than I do.

I really don't care about fashion or style; I got all that stuff out of my system way back in the punk/goth days of the late 70s/early 80s.

For years now I pretty much only ever wear t-shirts, jeans, jackets, and boots ... all plain black (no visible logos or any writing), so I don't have to give any thought or attention to what is supposed to go with what.

I work in fashion, so I have a leg up on most men. I however when not working am really basic. shorts or jeans and t shirts. I had a gay roommate a while back....who had no fashion sense what so ever. Everything he wore was blk,brown,blue or gray. He only wore flip flops, unless working or if it was very cold.

i can be a slob and dress better then the average straight guy.

and i am a slob

I wear Roots and old Navy. That's basically it.

So I'd say my fashion sense is not somehow magically better because I am gay.

What is Roots?

Roots made earth shoes and became fucking rich

in the the 1970's of course

then they made clothes

then they sponsered the canadian olympic team

and became richer

then they lost the licensing of the olympics to the hudsons bay compay

I tend to have good fashion sense; my husband's is even better....

We have some straight guys at work that have the worst fashion taste. Not only is their color matching bad; their styles are often out of wack and they could often fit another person in their clothing. Don't they try on their suit jackets with a salesperson/tailor before they purchase?!?!

I wear T-shirts. Usually broken into one of these categories:

* cartoon characters
* obscure sports teams
* geeky
* bands, especially local bands
* ones I've made myself

My favorite ones are those that cross genres. Like the Zef the Phoenix t-shirt, which has the sports mascot of Starfleet Academy on it. (Geeky, sports, and vaguely cartoon-y.)

Statistical analysis at 34 votes.

First, the stereotype:

Most (70-85%) gay guys have a much much better fashion sense than your average straight guy.

Only 20 percent of voters voted that they have a much much better fashion sense than your average straight guy.

This stereotype is 100% UNTRUE.

...of their patients who chew gum.

A child was given one math problem. "What is two plus two?" He decided to ask two grown-ups who worked with math.

The mathematicians said, "The answer is four if you're speaking purely of integers or rational numbers, but there may be an imaginary component."

The physicist said, "The answer is 4.000175, with a confidence to the second decimal place."

The market research analyst said, "What sort of answer are you looking for?"

I voted mostly better. I'm definitely not a fashion guru of any sort but I'm smart about what I wear.

one of my friends says that i usually dress nice

but sometimes it seems gay men try too hard to look good, then its just obvious

now if you cant tell weather a guy is gay or straight based on his clothing, then that is the right balance

if you can tell one way or another, then its a straight guy who looks like a slob and a gay guy who probably plucks his eyebrows #-o

if your looks match your clothing, and vice versa, then your good as gold.
