omg...after weeks of no rain...we finally had some.

I don't care about the vegetable garden at this point...but I have a ton of bulbs to plant in two weeks.

And 1000 trees desperate for rain.

I saw that in a catalog a few days ago and thought about trying it, even though it's a hybrid. I'm not seriously into saving seeds, so that's fine.

Your garden sounds amazing—so many great veggies! I understand the worry about frost; it’s always a risk. For leeks, you might try fitting them into an existing space or use a container if you can.

I’ve been growing wildflowers in my garden, too. I caught some inspiration when I was visiting California wildflower fields, like the ones at https://www.mklibrary.com/california-super-bloom/. It’s impressive how they grow well with minimal care and bring so much color. They don’t need much attention compared to vegetables.

Off to dig some more new potatoes today and hopefully pick some tomatoes too this weekend along with wax beans and the last of the beets.

My garden is well 'just there' with plants in it.

Have picked a small number of tomatoes, a couple peppers & a zucchini. Don't really expect to get too much til daytime highs cool down just a bit.

Looks like it will be a disappointing crop of tomatoes again this year.

They keep pushing new varieties that just don't perform as well as the old tried and true.

My mom only plants heirloom varieties. They might look like shit but they have wonderful taste and texture.

I look for them early in season at the greenhouses, but the last two years they have been in short supply.

I keep thinking that I should start the plants myself and maybe when I retire I will finally build that nice little greenhouse I always have wanted.
